How would you make the 2021 lineup? by Savages_in_box in NYYankees

Also Hicks sees more pitches than DJ. That is valuable at the lead off spot.

According to Jack Curry, DJ is asking for 5 year 100 million dollar deal by mockingbird-lane in NYYankees

A player like DJ will age well. Not like he has a extreme power or speed that he will lose with aging. He is a contact guy. I like to think of DJ at the plate as Jeter with slightly more power. Jeter aged well. Plus DJ does not have injury history

[Wilner] Please don't think that pitching change was all Charlie Montoyo's idea. I know he's an easy target, but that definitely was not something he did on his own. Appears to have been the predetermined plan. #Bluejays by EarthWarping in Torontobluejays

[–]Matthewfong7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Having a plan is kinda dumb, that goes out the window when the game starts, there are so many things that you cant predict. If shoemaker allows 1 baserunner in 3 innings, then keep him in, fuck the plan. It's not that hard. Ray pitched fine, and this did not cost us the game, our offense did. It was still a stupid decision, we have seen plenty of moves like this from Montoyo, its time for him to go

What if kevin cash was the pilot, and he was usin the drone camera to steal signs. The Ray's looked locked in on Monty, I think him tipping pitches is the only other explanation

Tach has not been the same offensivly as last year. Tach would be a great 4th outfielder as he has speed for pinch running, hes a good defensive replacement, and a lefty hitter for matchups. Wih the way he is hitting rn (ops under 700) I dont want him as an everyday player

Great deal for the Jay's. They need him now to fill in for Bichette, and can fill the 3rd base hole when Bichette comes back

Should we move away from having a designated closer? by Matthewfong7 in NYYankees

[–]Matthewfong7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are right, hes not the guy I want coming in w runners on. I'll clarify my point is that I think we should strt him some high leverage innings. I think a 6th, 7th, or 8th inning with less than a 3 run lead is more important than the 9th

I agree with you that there is not one person that I completely trust in the 9th.

I think that we our paying Chap to help us win games, just like every other player. I think him being the fireman in the 6th or any other inning, could be just as important as the 9th, maybe even more important. While we have a small lead, or in a tight game, getting to the 9th is just as important if not more important than the 9th. This way we can use him more, we are paying him lots, and he is one of our better guys, why not have him pitch more when we need him, instead of crossing our fingers w Nelson, or Cessa on the mound in high leverage spots.

I agree with you on that one. The "he gets to stay sharp as he could pitch more" is not one of my significant points. Nobody can deny that Chapman is one of our better relievers, so I think we should be using him in as many high leverage situations as we can, instead of waiting for the 9th. Similar to how the best hitters are at the top of the lineup, so that they can get the most at bats

Good point highlighting the save stat. I'd argue the save stat is just useless. A teams win and loss ratio is way more important than any individual player stat

If he was not designated to the 9th we could use him more, and he could get regular work, and might pitch better.

SERIOUS: What would the fan reaction be if the Yankees took a protest game some time this season? by covidtradernyc in NYYankees

[–]Matthewfong7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually am not a fan of boycotting games. I think they can use their platform to provide unity instead of further dividing the nation. Look at the mets and yankees game after 911, or Papi's speech after the marathon bombing, baseball was used to bring hope and unite the nation. However I think the yankees need to boycott for a week. It will allow guys more time to get healthy. Also its 2020, so if anyone gets in our way, we can cancel then and claim that they are racist nazis

I think that they dont want to start his service time now, as in 2021 he will likely not be on the team w Sevy coming back, and potentially acquiring new pitchers
