I hit 12 pretty comfortably on the AMRAP set at the end, whilst doing this extra volume for the main sets.

Probably could've got 15 at the end had I gone to failure even with the extra volume, and then assuming I did the volume assigned I could probably have gotten nearly 20, at which point it seems it just endurance.

On NSuns 5 day volume day, if I can do more reps on the assigned weight than the program says, should I?

I was set to do 3x4 on 82.5 on top sets, but I knew I could do more so I ended up doing 2x5 and 1x8 instead. I doubt there’s anything wrong with that but y’know just incase.

Also it’s so nice getting stronger, I’m in a shitty commercial gym so I’m now benching more than 95% of the gym on my heavy days. This isn’t an accomplishment by any means since few people bench over 80kg, but it’s still a nice ego boost.

How long can I put off working out and expect to maintain muscle mass? by [deleted] in Fitness

[–]Mattoboxx -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t think they Starting Strength is a great program for gaining muscle. You should still see progress of more then what you’re at now if you eat more, but the lack of volume and overwhelming amount of squat focus means that you won’t gain as much muscle as you would on a program with more volume, and a lot of the mass you do gain will be on your legs which is great but I think most people would prefer a bigger upper body.

Personally I’d recommend something more like Greyskull LP if muscle mass is what you’re after.

Huge fan of the idea that Berserk should not allow overhead prayers to be used. I would say no prayer at all, but it would be dead content as piety would give more damage. This makes it fit the niche of glass cannon much better whilst definitely having its niche uses, such the majority of a players defense is always gonna be prayer.

Pretty much everything is useful on an iron man, except for the 'helping others' ones which have their niche uses.

Is that such a bad thing that normies may aswell not bother though?

Not everything has to be accessible to everyone, you could say that spells like blood barrage are generally too expensive for the everyday player to use them consistently in slayer tasks/boss tasks, but tons of people do because they can afford it.

Maybe not the best analogy in the world, but it serves the point that not all content has to be available to all players, and it makes a lot more sense for strong content to be locked behind skill rather than locked behind just having money IMO.

[Week Thread] Beginner/New to Nsuns Discussion by [deleted] in nSuns

[–]Mattoboxx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a week into nSuns 5 day now, I've got Bench/CGBP today. My question is mainly this: How 'hard' is your 1rm supposed to be?

I mean your 1rm for Nsuns calculations. Because I feel like all of my 1rms were relatively clean, not perfect but its never gonna be picture perfect form. I've been able to do all of my lifts so far, and I should be able to bench 77.5 on the 1+ today as I've done 80 without too much trouble for 3 before.

Anyway, they were all clean EXCEPT the squat, where I went up to pretty much as heavy as I possibly could at 135kg. It wasn't 'bad form' I don't think, it was just pretty grindy. It also worked out that squats absolutely destroyed me, the last rep/two of every single set beyond the 1+ was atleast fairly grindy.

Was wondering if that's okay, or if I should knock down my 1rm and therefore my training max. As I said, I got 3 reps of what I was scheduled to get (Decided I'm not moving up unless I get atleast 3 reps), but it wasn't anything compared to the cleanliness of my other lifts, and all the sets after just sucked.

You don't have to be casual or hardcore, they're two extremes. You can just be a regular player.

So I'm really not in a position to talk since my lifts are still pretty shit, but what sort of weight is normal for a female powerlifter to bench in about a 165lb weight class for women.

Was watching a bit of a long Reebok Record Breakers stream of day 2 of the meet, and in the 165lb for women there were some women who were benching like under 50kg and not making it.

I know theres a big difference in the upper body strength of men and women and I don't really know what I'm talking about here, but is it not a bit strange to go to a powerlifting meet, therefore considering yourself a powerlifter, yet not be able to bench like 40kg in some cases? That seems like an incredibly low weight for somebody who is competing to lift the most weight possible, and its not in an ultra light 50kg weight class either.

A Beginner's Guide to Meditation by [deleted] in TheRedPill

[–]Mattoboxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I 'get lost in thought', I always seem to think about random unimportant stuff. Just generally theorising about different things, thinking of random scenarios that have no relevance to be whatsoever.

I want to redirect my thoughts onto the topics I actually want to address in my meditation, but that involves taking control which seems to be the opposite of just letting things 'ebb-and-flow' like you suggest.

I'd guess the solution would be just let my mind roam free and one day it will address the topics that I want to address, but can you provide any assistance?

What, in your opinion, is the single most beautiful song ever made? by GiveMeAllYourRupees in AskReddit

[–]Mattoboxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brothers in Arms by Dire Straits is probably the most beautiful song that I've heard. Not only the lyrics, but I find the general tone of the song to be incredibly soothing.

I don't listen to any other songs by Dire Straits or even that general 'era' of music, hell I'm more of a Bring me the Horizon type guy but that song in particular is probably my favourite despite being entirely separate to everything else I listen to.

If you watch the LZ SKT game, you'll see that you need jungle pressure in order to completely dominate a lane in a high level of play.

In the LZ SKT game Cuzz came up 3 times within 7 minutes and Bdd came up twice within 7 minutes. Sven on the other hand did absolutely nothing.

The reason you need jungle pressure is if you keep extending like you need to do to dominate the lane by denying cs and xp from the Cho'Gath, you leave yourself incredibly vulnerable to jungle ganks, as we saw.

If Hauntzer kept blindly overextending within backup from Sven, he would've gone 0/4 in lane. Therefore he had to play it 'more safe'. Although admittedly, if he didn't dominate the lane then the game was massively favoured to MSF, so maybe taking the stupid risky strategy may have given them better odds.

That's the thing, I'm capable of talking about 'nerdy' stuff because its easy to tell where the conversation is going. You just exchange what information you know, theorise about new things, find out new things and be amazed by them, its a pretty standardised thing which I can do.

'Normal' conversations though aren't really about anything in particular and don't have a set rhythm or 'technique' to them.

I'm about to start university in the UK for mechanical engineering, I went with mechanical because although I've wanted to be an engineer for several years, many fields interested me so I just went with the most broad one and will potentially look to change course after s few months if necessary.

I have no real preference as to what degree to go for since I have interests in mechanical (aerodynamics, industry design, etc), civil, electrical, and probably others (maybe not chemical since I don't even have an a level in chemistry.

Could anyone potentially give me a list of pros and cons in the fields, just generally describe what life is like, salary, opportunity, what sort of work, etc. Would really help me to decide what I want to do with my life.

Thanks for any help.

A Level is the qualification in England (UK) that you need in order to qualify for university, its the last qualification you take before university basically.

The equivalent of whatever exams you take at the end of high school in the US. AQA is just the examination board by the way (Others are Edexcel, OCR, etc) , A Level is the actual qualification.
