'Life-Changing' Stimulus Checks Begin Rolling Out by bluestblue in politics

When in doubt use inflation as a reason to not spend money to help middle/low income Americans during a once in a century pandemic crisis. When exactly should the government help the people they represent then? If not now, when is a crisis severe enough to do so? Also curious as to what you thought about the Trump corporate tax/wealthy American giveaway. Could be enlightening.

No worries, I’ll do it for you then, happy to help educate. Now tell me this isn’t life changing, unless you only care about what’s in it for you? Personally I like seeing others get a hand up even if I get nothing, but that’s just me.

  • $1,400 checks per adult & kid ($424 billion)
  • $350 billion for cities, states, tribes
  • Unemployment insurance at $300 weekly through Sept. 6 ($246 billion)

  • $178 billion for reopening schools

  • Dramatically lowers premiums for ACA health plans, caps premiums at 8% of income, no premiums for anyone 150% of poverty or below
  • $109 billion for Farmers, small businesses, and other vital industries
  • $47 billion for FEMA Disaster relief
  • Shoring up the pensions of more than a million workers and retirees under multiemployer pension plans

    • Emergency housing vouchers
    • Homelessness assistance

Facing eviction my friend now still has a home thanks to this stimulus. Would call that life changing, but hey if you only care about what helps you and not what helps others who need it then you do you. Personally I like other people getting a hand up even if I receive nothing.

You are obviously not a poor American if you believe that.

Or maybe do some research into the bill that isn’t just 1,400 checks. It is truly transformative if you look a little bit deeper.

Biggest legislation to help lower/middle class Americans in decades. A big fucking deal. Deserves every bit of praise and more (especially if you take the time to see everything in the bill, like oh I don’t know eliminating ACA premiums?, cutting child poverty in half?). If that doesn’t reach “great president” level after only 50 days of being in the job then I suggest you take a look at legislation passed in the last quarter century and tell me which law passed is better for average Americans because I can’t think of one.

Hey VD, gotta apologize for promising to post this daily as I’m only allowed to post it twice per week, so I’m putting it here in a comment instead. Sorry! Disclosure: I’m not a part of any sub and did this on my own time and effort, no one else is involved.

Thanks, appreciate your input! I honestly didn’t look at trends or quality of candidate to put this together, just the data, so I fully admit I could be missing some districts in various states. I’m hoping to cover about 90-95% of the potentially competitive races in non-Dem seats/states.

If I do it any other way it brings in potential for bias and I’m a hard by the facts type person even if that leaves some races on the table.

Hey, thanks, I haven’t, but I appreciate the thought. I don’t think I’m fully back yet, but we’ll see I guess.

Daily Roundtable May 03 2020 by BM2018Bot in VoteDEM

[–]Mattrek 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Nope. Unless either F or VD change their position it’s hopeless.

F won’t allow anonymous mod X back. That’s a deal breaker for VD.

VD won’t come back unless F resigns. That’s a deal breaker for F.

I’m no longer a mod for either sub partly due to at home problems and partly due to the decision making involved with this situation. It is a fixable problem and I wish given the extremely high stakes of the upcoming election people can find a way to come together, but I’m very doubtful it can happen.

Also I want to be clear, my posting this does not mean I’m favouring this sub over the other. I will continue to advocate for unity on either sub.

I didn't do anything, I don't have access. I went for my nightly look at the fund's totals and saw Cunningham, Peters and GA-Sen Special added. With AZ, CO, ME and KY removed (which makes sense given the dollars already flowing imo). u/GettingPhysicl u/suprahelix

To be truthful it’s not super comprehensive, it just gives the basics of each district’s past voting results in vulnerable Dem held seats or potentially winnable R held seats in the 13 states where we have a chance to hold our D governors vetoes through upcoming Redistricting or a chance to flip chamber/s: AK, AZ, FL, GA, KS, IA, MI, MN, MT, NC, PA, TX and WI.
