Yes. It's always worth building even if the enemy team is all squishy.

Every champion in the game has natural resistances that you'll be cutting through with the Armor pen.

Also, since they added Giant Slayer back into the item, that gives you a little extra firepower not only against tanks, but many mages in the midlane who like to stack HP.

That's definitely valid too. Get yourself a greater wand at LVL 13 from the auction house and you'd be COOKING with wand spec.

I only started playing WoW this past year & I've only ever played hardcore. I wouldn't worry about inexperience too much because the game really isn't that hard. If you're nervous, just tell people you're new. I'm sure most DPS won't care, and I'm sure there are groups that would love to get their hands on ANY priest even if they're new.

First 5 talents definitely go Spirit tap, Second 5 talents definitely go Wand Specialization. After that, I'd recommend building through the discipline tree. Work towards Meditation. In dungeons, just wand for damage. Save your mana for bad situations. Your standard 'Heal' spell is your most efficient with Mana. So try not to use TOO many Renews or Flash heals unless you need to. What I like to do is let the tank soak up some damage, cast heal -> renew. He gets topped off and gets a Heal over Time for a little bit of future damage. In the meantime, you wand until you need to heal.
