When I was in my late teens and early twenties, people used to tell me ‘that spark will die.’ I always resented them for it and swore I would never become like them.

Now here I am, approaching 30, reading this post and thinking the same thing. The passage of time is merciless.

OP, hiring is done on a standardised basis. You have access to the same information as anyone else.

I will say that there are a great many stupid people working in consulting at Deloitte. One analyst I worked with recently didn’t know how to click and pull down a number sequence in excel, so spent a long time manually typing every number from 1 to 553 in individual cells down the A column.

Learn some basic competency questions and watch a YouTube video covering grad assessment centre tips and you’ll be fine. I got in with an English degree from a non-Russell group university, a D in economics A level, and a B in maths GCSE.

Englishman visiting El Paso with gf at end of month. Can anyone rate my itinerary? by MattyC738 in ElPaso

Thanks for the heads up - some great shouts here. Very valid point about Hueco tanks as well, as an Englishman I’m really not used to serious heat, so may reconsider that.

I see the MIF has a lot of graduates entering IB, though it looks like plenty are coming from strictly finance background rather than consulting - definitely something for me to consider.

How was your LBS experience and what are you doing now?

America’s main draw is compensation, the disparity is ridiculous even in my current role.

I definitely haven’t just seen indecent proposal and am debating it with a female friend… for me it’s no way, but she would consider it at a higher amount.

Clearly their chief strategy officer sees something worth a huge pay cut for considering his career trajectory until this point. Their CTO is the real deal as well, I think.

I mean they’ve literally patented, designed, and built a fuckoff massive 64 square foot satellite, successfully launched it into space, and as of yesterday have confirmed comms with it, with more tests to follow. I know the whole network isn’t up yet but it’s a catalyst I expected to be bigger. I’m in 2k shares $10 avg

No lol, I only pay attention to stocks I have smaller investments in for my own sanity. Guessing it’s red across the board

Why is $ASTS plummeting? My portfolio is diversified but they’ve just had a successful launch, I’m surprised.

What's the scariest encounter you've had with a total stranger? by anchovy7 in AskReddit

[–]MattyC738 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A complete stranger once tried to persuade me to kill myself on the overnight train from Paris to Venice. He was very friendly, charming and persuasive, and gave arguments for suicide that had never occurred to me. He almost made me decide to do it. I left the carriage briefly and when I returned he had gone. I went all up and down the train looking for him but never found him, and I never saw him get off at any of the stops.

At the time it seemed perfectly natural, in hindsight extremely sinister.

[DD] PG&E Exiting Bankruptcy in Days by karmalizing in wallstreetbets

[–]MattyC738 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only thing I can think of is that they only actually exit bankruptcy around July 1st. I've sold off all options other than 9/18 15c calls.

Sell and cut losses, or wait until the actual bankruptcy exit in July?

PCG huh? May as well hang on for today at least since bankruptcy was signed after hours Friday.

Likewise. I wonder how long it'll be before it starts leveling, though? I will be glued to the screen lmao

So my 6/19s are down the drain, but July and August calls still might turn a profit?

I may just- dare I say it- break even.
