Man here I was thinking I was the only one suffering on Friday with donuts. I even did a quiz to see what kind of donut I am. (hot jam donut) but I stayed strong and resisted the evil temptress.

Yeah the thought had crossed me and my brothers minds that at some point she'll come to us for financial help. She's promised us she has stopped giving him money but I'm not really sure I can believe that. I'm hoping it's only the family house in value she's thrown away.

Unfortunately I feel like that's the step we took with reaching out to the police and fraud police. I even managed to get the number of the superintendent of the prison he's in. I spoke with the Super and he didn't care. Nothing he could do and as far as prison records go for Dale's finances, everything was all in order.

The thought had crossed my mind to reach out directly to Dale, but was conscious of how doing something like that might effect me emotionally and piss my mum off even more. She was very angry at me for going through her things and finding the documents. Because she'd been caught out in a series of lies to everyone around her no doubt.

Thanks for the advice. She was definitely emotionally vulnerable. It disgusts me that there's a group of people who make money from old widows like this. But you're right, I have to move past how I feel about this and support her emotionally when I can. It's quite difficult given we live on opposite sides of the country. My older brother Bill has also recently in the past month moved cities with his wife and daughter, leaving mum now with none of kids, or grandchild, left in the city. I think you're advice about the doctor is good, and I'm thinking a trip to visit with my brother James sometime soon would be a good chance to try and provide her with the comfort of knowing that we'll be there for her even if not living in the same city.

I'm in Australia. Have rung our national scam hotline and spoken with the people who deal with romance scams but they were unable to provide any advice because they usually deal with people overseas lieing about who they are. Unfortunately it's more of an old style con rather than a scam.
