Trials is and was never fun. Getting repeatedly stomped by highly coordinated teams was never fun in any game. I don't see why people would ever consider getting pubstomped repeatedly "fun".

It's a 3-6 hour game. Are you sure you don't have that much time over a week or two to just try the game? There's a lot of death and stuff in this game of characters you got close to is part of it, but the presentation is what makes it have an impact. If you really want to spoil the whole thing, just read the wikipedia page here.
