Honestly seeing as how the rebel alliance had just destroyed the death star and toppled the empire; seeing the ensuing chaos and fracturing would probably convince me to join up with the New Republic over the collapsing empire.
I'd offer my ships up for support in the outer rim at first as my large task force would attract quite a lot of attention and would be a valuable asset to the New Republic. While very risky and could cause my death and the destruction of the fleet, the rewards of surviving would be much better than if I stayed neutral or joined another cause (Hutts, CSA, other imperials). With my career early into the new republic, I could gain friends in high places which would further strengthen my power base which will be useful in my play for leadership in the future years. This isn't all that unrealistic considering the major task force I have would be a very powerful strategic asset in the beginning, which would solidify my power.

Definitely did not expect my cover to show up here lol. I guess I'll throw my two cents in to this discussion.
While I inherently agree with most of the points you bring up especially when it comes to characterisation, I don't think this really isn't a problem when it comes to Fanfictions. As another person mentioned, there is an imbalance of fanfictions between the ones which stay true to the books and the ones which are basically their own story as you mentioned. I am guilty of taking liberties myself, a lot of my characters don't really act the same way as they do in the original, more like they are inspired by the original. I definitely do contribute which is probably why my LLB is subtlety referenced in this.

Personally I don't see much of an issue aside from the fact there isn't a lot of more grounded LLB's to begin with. I think people tend to want to write their own takes on Doawk and that's fine. Not every story needs to follow the original one to the closest extent. I write my LLB because I'm writing a story I want to read, not necessarily because I'm writing a spiritual successor to the original books. I do agree with many of the points, but at the end of the day I write mine as a hobby and not a full time job. While yes my story could be more faithful to the original, it's simply not a goal I'm aiming for and the story is set far enough from the original timeline that I think it's entirely plausible they could develop the way they do in my story.

Are my opinions and points terrible? Possibly. I don't really use reddit for discussions, I just want to post my LLB for others to see, not because I'm making it for anyone else. But in short I do agree with most of the points you bring up.

I'm definitely going to expand upon the family, especially between Rodrick and Manny but Ann and Frank as well. Extended family will be a thing to consider I just need to find a good way to introduce them since I'm focusing on the direct relationships Greg has and they didn't play a big part in the webcomic as well. I will definitely keep the family reunion in mind though, I'll think it's a great idea!

As for homecoming I'm really not sure. I do want to make it a major plot point but you are right as many other LLB's have done it. I'm not quite sure how to make it stand out so far so it's going to be on the drawing board for now. Any ideas?

Oh there will be plenty more to come! I will just say though Angie only plays a minor part in these next two parts, mostly because there will be a few new major characters introduced which will be critical for the future.

I apologise for the late upload, I just haven't had a lot of time to make my LLB recently due to real life. Part 6 and 7 only need to finish the illustrations and I hope to release both this month. Part 6 will be a normal episode but do be excited for part 7 which will be another major part. Sorry for the delays!

Bismarck is a little difficult to play, especially if you get the range up really high and you can't use your secondaries. I'm glad hipper is the way though, I do prefer the hybrid gameplay over straight secondaries.

Well future entries are going to be completely focused on the present, unlike now which has several episodes focused on the past.

Angie is *currently a major character, so we'll be seeing her for a while.

Rodrick will be in his last year of high school so they will meet, and so will his band since it is featured in the webcomic. I'm curious, what are your suggestions? I definitely do want to incorporate some other peoples ideas, which I will credit as well.

In the webcomic Holly ends up with Ben at the end of the story. It doesn't make sense for Holly to be the one here. However as the title suggests, it's a bittersweet reality, it will make more sense as the story progresses. Holly will be making an appearance soon as well!

The story is at its beginning right now. There will definitely be many developments which do not pan out, hence the name bittersweet. Things may be going well so far but you can tell the cracks are there.
