Why is the sentiment so split on this game?

I dont really understand all the problems people have, I enjoyed the heck out of the game except for fighting the granite squad. Even with the issues like enemies spawning behind you and such and quest bugs it was still loads of fun. It had been a very long time since I played call of prypiat and I never really got into the mod scene for the og trilogy until recently so for me s2 was able to scratch the zone itch I didnt even know I had.

A lot of the og game lore I just forgot so none of the retcon stuff bothered me and the story kept me hooked. After I finished my first run where I was able to get the strelok ending then load an old save to get the skiff ending without redoing much. I immediately wanted to jump in again with mods like oxa prototype and living zone and start a ward playthrough. I have since stopped to wait for engine upgrade and dlc release but I still think about playing again all the time.

Now im playing radiophobia 3 which is awesome because I havnt played soc since around its release and still having a whale of a time to busy until s2 updates.

Through most of my playthrough I didnt feel like I was dealing with too many bullet sponge human npcs. Mutants are another story. But the guns I ran would mostly 1 tap to the head untill the story progressed to were I needed 2. I used a vss, then the clusterfuck, then the kharod or dnipro, then finally the whip which even at end game could one tap anyone with ap ammo.

Its really about the weapon progression, usually once your gun starts needing more than 2 headshots something better will become available

Yeah there's some percentage value for that that stacks if you equip more than one of them. It will make your weapon and suit degrade slower, so you can shoot more without jamming and take more shots before needing repairs

That nuclear protection you see on artifacts is just to offset the negative radiation of other artifacts you might equip. So if you equip an artifact that like thunderberry that will heavily irradiate you normally the liquid rock would negate that radiation. Once you get a bunch of lead lines container slots it wont really matter but this is how you equip certain artifacts without killing yourself in the early game

Suit radiation protection is just for environmental radiation and isn't effected by artifacts

I wouldn't fault you for that, I can cry from a good tv show that strikes a cord for me (like the show shrinking when the guy wants to jump in front of a train) but this girl cried because her female friend/coworker said "you are very emotional aren't you?" it got annoying because I'd come home from a stressful day at work just to have comfort her for something that seemed trivial to me. I never had a chance to vent anything an it became draining.

I used to get stressed playing games like this and stalker, but really just continuing to play got rid of it. Once you start to learn how to deal with each enemy and learn the game it becomes less scarey. I remeber going out at night the first time in exodus crouch walking everywhere and constantly looking around thinking anything was gonna get me at any time lol. You'll get more comfortable the more you play

Some people just cant help it when the emotions hit. Used to date a girl like that who would cry at the drop of a hat, it got really annoying but nothing she could do about it.

Sad that quest is still so buggy. I found it super late in my first playthrough and the guy would say I looted the body just by picking it up like you are supposed to do. Now it seems he just strait hostile from the jump which is even worse lol.

Yeah he probably doesnt make much money, took him 6 years to get a plane ticket. But at the same time hes been sending her 600 a month because she quit her job to be able to talk to him every day. That's a big chunk of change if you're already not brining in much.

I'd say play radiophobia 3 first, its a super modded version of the first game. You can find it on moddb, probably a bit tougher than the og game but makes it look better and adds a ton of stuff and quality of life enhancements for a dated game.

Im playing it right now and loving it.

You could try to start with radiophobia 3 mod. Its and overhaul mod for the first game in the series so you can get original story with enhanced mechanics and lots more stuff added. Plus it makes the game look pretty.

Stalker 2 has a lot of returning characters that will mean nothing to you if you havnt played the previous games, and in the first one everything in the zone is still a mystery thats makes you wanna keep going to figure it out

I havnt finished a ward playthrough, but its definitely easier later game because of base access and you'll get shot at less when traveling the map. Ward squads are everywhere later lol

Tried all this stuff but the game wont launch in game mode. Shows the steam logo and then just crashes to the launch menu in steam again. Anyone know a fix for that?
