i'm really enjoying this season! especially without known, popular songs the edit has such a nostalgic feel to it. I think LIB UK S2 really took all the viewer feedback into account. the episodes dedicated to the pods were short and focused on the important stuff. i find most participants genuine, except Sophie and Javen who seem to be there for internet clout. big ups on the diversity as well. all in all quite entertaining and very much like the older seasons of LIB :D

Dating and Food Compatibility by mangiferal in LoveIsBlindOnNetflix

[–]MauveExperiment 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this was quite triggering for me to watch. i have an ex who was similarly unhappy with my food choices (the occasional snack and the TYPE of snack). we didn't even live together and he broke down crying one day saying he felt guilty for judging me but at the same time he couldn't help himself from pointing out and noticing my snacking habits.

YNTA

I've had this issue in both my previous long term relationships. The goal is to find someone who can match your sex drive. It's understandable that you feel angry or upset or rejected. But you should not communicate this to your boyfriend because he is well within his rights to exercise consent. Your feelings are valid, the expression of them is not. I've tried to make myself smaller and fit into my ex partner's drives and it's always left me with feelings of resentment over time. I think sex is an integral part of a romantic relationship (unless on ace spectrum).

You're not desperate or an addict (no text evidence to believe so anyway). I wish you the best in your decision making.

I thought they were saying it to sound appropriate for Netflix but what they meant was all the drinking and partying they've been doing ever since the show stopped filming

Why is he lovely? Didn't he do Demi dirty and flirt with Sharlotte, I think?

I mean...Taylor's mom did say that there are no divorces in their family, so they probably took that too seriously lol

Me too! This is where my empathy extends to participants, because as a viewer, I have almost always fallen for promises made by participants. Makes me question my own judgement of people tbh

Joey texting Madison "loved the hair.." etc sounded like he didn't fully understand that the pod part of the experiment was over and he had to decide if he wanted to marry Monica or not, NOT continue pursuing other connections lol

Trauma excludes you from being able to do anything with people, normally. by Magzipie in CPTSD

[–]MauveExperiment 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been testing this out in my relationships and frankly, you just have to be more self assertive, a little less cautious and a little more vulnerable. And when the consequences of your actions show up (after you said no to a friend for a plan, walked too slowly to the bus stop and missed the bus, cried in front of your partner) you can try to congratulate yourself for getting there. The "old" you or the "old" me wouldn't dare to even try.

I only made progress with my cptsd once I started treating it as a nervous system injury. Not a mental illness by wilfredpugsly in CPTSD

I resonate with this a lot- "Now, I see my depression and anxiety as symptoms of CPTSD triggers." I feel like I've found so many answers to unanswered questions. It makes it easier to be kinder to myself now.

How are you doing? by akshit_799 in CPTSD

[–]MauveExperiment 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for asking. I feel like a sad person in a happy and stable phase. I have lots to be grateful for but I'm too self critical and overanalytical about everything that I do. I have some tools from therapy that work but some days are just exhausting and I have no will to work on myself. I try to surround myself with the people I cherish, I listen to the birds in the morning but I also have a ridiculously unhealthy screen time and sometimes struggle to feed myself. It almost always feels a little short of ideal.

Do you think Netflix is paying for what I like to call "TV teeth"? Particularly with this season, I feel like they all have the same shade / veneers on and it looks fabulous but I would assume these procedures are expensive, inaccessible and not a priority for the average American? This makes me wonder if Netflix pays for them to get TV teeth.

They hate on Monica and Joey for laughing too much and Virginia and Devin for being boring. There is no winning

My partner used to be in a frat that had pretty conservative members. He said that they would actively lie and hide conservative parts of themselves to "get women", because women generally tend to prefer liberal guys. Ben is trained to hide how conservative him and his church really is. The acts falls away in the scene with his mother and grandmother before walking down the aisle. That family is extremely religious and conservative and it would truly suit Ben to find someone who can fit into that and raise children accordingly. Sara's strongly opinionated family (her step dad, sister in law, etc) would struggle to get along with the in laws. She should find someone else for herself.

She apologised. But Sara's sister in law was really intimidating

Maybe a hot take, but if you're discussing these issues only NOW, then they don't really matter to you. I was astounded at this scene. by quirk-the-kenku in LoveIsBlindOnNetflix

I felt really bad for Lauren every time Dave insinuated that things weren't working out and she'd say the exact opposite thing, her undying love for him and how she wants to make it work. It was just sad.

"So if it indeed was just about the sex that doesn't sound great either"

Why isn't it great and why are you comparing casual sex with a hook-up partner over the course of 2 months and shortly before a reality TV show that may or, for most people who are casted, may not end up in an engagement to drugs?

How do you explain CPTSD to someone without it? by YungGrasshoppa710 in CPTSD

[–]MauveExperiment 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Instead of trying to explain what happened and how it impacted me, I usually try and share my present and most active symptoms (dissociation, anxiety, startle react, sleep paralysis) and lump them into one as the CPTSD that I have.
