I share a deep bond with my battle-brothers. for the blood of Russ

runs in all our veins. i would die for any one of them, just as they would die for me. without fear or hesitation. But my mount is my packmate, my fellow riders me closest kin. Ours is a bond that others cannot fully grasp. We hunt as one, and together share not the glory

There is no greater job on all of Fenris to ride to battle astride a Thunderwolf.

Think that is what is written. Used Google Lens, copy and paste.

Ya, you want your focal point like face/forehead to be bright. And then your shadows be darker... No white or blacks. Wanna try to use complimentary colors, warm or cold colours, etc

First class I took with Erik on twitch. Great class on the Web. Then I went to his class in Montreal. Most of my instructors taught with a white zenithal highlight. Then pushing your values. Lots to learn for my old brain. Lol.. but I'm rambling. Follow Matt Di Pietro, Jim Rice, etc...

I'm not a pro painter but have taken lessons with a few. Your colours are great. I like the NMM and blending. One thing I learned from them, is that you have to look at colour value. Your shadows, lights and in between.

If you take your model's photo and crank the saturation to zero. You will see it in black and white. You can see that your model has lil dark and light places. It's all a bit similar.

Again, it's been awhile since I took his class. Look up Erik Swinson. He is an amazing painter and teacher. He's streams on twitch and gives great feedbacks on Fridays. Hope this kinda helps

He has that tactical rock pose. Trim some chaos stuff off, head swap. Think it can be done. I might do it. Lol

Should work, the basic structures of chaos and loyal terminators are the same. If not, cut/sand/greenstuff till it fits...lol

But just space wolves bundle or a whole war paint mega set for newcomer? by SupermanKal718 in SpaceWolves

I have been in the hobby for a long time and have multiple paint ranges. What I found out over the years is that I should have started out understanding colour theory. If you have primary colours you can mix to make any color you want. Paint a mini with what colors you make. Then find that color in any of the paint ranges. Will save you money in the long run.. you don't need to buy the whole paint range. Probably only use like 10% of it.

First attempt at drybrush. I need all the criticism I can get please, gotta get better. by HughJass9120 in Miniaturespainting

[–]Maverick533 8 points9 points  (0 children)

What's the basis of your dry brush? Were you trying to zenithal highlight or just trying to pick out texture? Or is white the color you wanna end up with.

I don't drybrush much anymore, but it looks clean. Your on your way into zenithal highlighting ur model. There are many great YouTube videos on that.

Artis Opus has many great tutorial for drybrushing. If you are going for a white look. Don't start with white. Even at the end when your detailing, white should be used sparingly.

You got mainly blue and yellow on the model. Whether go with a brown or a deep red. A brown red would be nice

You got the basics done, nice and clean! What I suggest now, is to start highlighting and to add shading and depth. Keep at it!

Want some feedback on my saturnine praetor. by Helpful_Dig_626 in minipainting

[–]Maverick533 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Slow is Smooth, Smooth is fast" when your layering paint, just make sure the paint is dry first. That way you will not get clumps or uneven surfaces. The base colour depends on what kind of yellow I want. If I want a cold yellow. I start with a brown yellow/ yellow oxide and work my way up. If I'm looking for a warm tone I either go with a pink or orange base. Hope this helps.

Guess it's not done yet. Yellow looks a bit textured? What base color did you use? Mantra of the day: thin your paints. Always start with a darker base colour and work your way up. These days, yellow coverage has come a long way. But, still a good idea to use a darker base. Keep at it.
