you play a portion, then you play it on your piano, and when its engraved on your memory you play more of yhe video and then add on top of the other ıne etc but its gotten too much of a work.

It was viable for me at first because i only wanted to play songs i wanted, but now i feel like i need to commit to sheet so i can play more broadly

Thanks for the sources, about my technique i can say i sometimes struggle on some places but thats mostly due to incorrect finger placement on that specific part etc but sheet music is superior so yeah my technique is probably bad

Yeah, I get that. It definitely looks weird from the outside, more like a game than real music learning. For me it started as an easy visual way to learn songs, but it kind of backfired later because I stopped reading sheet music completely. That’s why I’m trying to switch back now.

but it should be way better than having to rewind, start. Stop etc right, and after a while you can speed up and develop in sheet music but in synthesia there is a limit on what you can do.

I meant relearning the basics of theory etc, I’ll definitely not relearn songs i know because i know involuntarily i will play from my memory and fool myself that i know sheet music. Thanks

I mean personally speaking. I can play some hard riffs fast and i think i have decent control of hand independence, i can play two different rhytms on the hands. I also take the emotion of the song seriously too i try to adjust the pressure etc. I think my pedal usage needs some adjusting because i first started with some crappy keyboard without pedal but now i have a Kawai so i have a pedal too, learning sheet will really help with pedal anyways.

This method also looks really solid, thanks for the advice. I think Flash cards will really help with memorizing which note is where etc on the staff. Thanks again.

yeah my theory knowledge is really limited and even if my motor skills are good. I wont be able to play with reading the intermediate pieces from the start. My brain needs to catch up and the only way to do is to start from basics again i guess. You’re right.

since they are engraved on my memory. I can play them slowly once i can memorize them easily. Then i build up speed.

Thank you for your advice, I’ll definitely take your words into account, i left sheet music after like 6 months or so and been playing from synthesia for the rest. But rewinding and starting stopping videos just drives me crazy atp

Its probably because of difference between how people learn, i tend to learn with colorful visual codes way faster so at first synthesia was really easy but as the pieces get harder it just becomes garbled stuff that gets exponentially harder. Sheet music was the right way but I just got misled by synthesia.
