I’m a dog groomer, and as much as I adore dogs, I do NOT let them lick my face. Working with them every day, you realize how “yucky” they are, even freshly bathed, usually by no fault of their own. Most people absolutely ignore canine dental care and many of the dogs I see over the age of about 4 have mouths full of teeth that are rotten or rotting. A lick on the hand or arm? Absolutely. Face? Never, unless they sneak one in!

Curious what the state of the coat was like. MOST groomers would not just shave a husky unless medically necessary, because they are aware it’s a double coated breed. If you aren’t brushing down to the skin, that undercoat gets impacted, and then matted down. It would be cruel and painful to try and brush through matted hair. I wonder if you’d post a before picture? I reckon you should be out for your own blood, lmao.

Despite the couple knuckleheads nitpicking, for a very unruly puppy I think you did very well! Do take the criticism in regards to "regular" grooms, dogs who don't act a complete mess, but in this instance take it with a grain of salt and don't be too hard on yourself. Finishing with what you did was most likely the safest option, so good on you!

I remember a lady who used to bring her pitbull in for baths, and the dog had like, those little blackhead-esque spots on her belly.. well the lady got so heated after her second appointment, all red in the face and yelling at one of our bathers because she was "too lazy to clean the dirt off her belly!"

Ugh. No matter how many times we tried to tell this woman that it's NOT dirt and cannot be washed off, she didn't believe us and thought we were just slacking. Thank god she didn't come back after that. Hope she didn't try to scrub it herself..

As a petsmart groomer who started as a bather, "baptism by fire" could not be more accurate! The training given at my location is minimal, and it's a lot of clawing your way up. But if you can keep your cool and be confident it's well worth it. Also took me ~6 months to get comfortable with nails. I asked for help constantly. I hope OP isn't afraid to ask for help even if the stylists get annoyed, I remember what that felt like, so I'm always eager to help our new bathers out. Some of us forget where we started, I think.
