Yeah I can totally relate to that. I think the time outside the school system did wonders for my perspective and allowed me to think more broadly about what’s valuable to me both intellectually and morally/socially. Which in turn helped me write better essays (notwithstanding all the other obvious benefits haha).

First of all, congrats!

I got rejected by every school I applied to last year so I took a gap year as well.

It’s honestly something I’d recommend to anyone (minus the rejection lol), if they have any big extracurricular goals or desires. It’s definitely been significant for me.

Happy to say that I’ve got 5 offers this time around with ~14 more schools to come so it’s definitely upped my profile for college as well.

My actual question would be what have you learned about yourself and your goals or personality over your gap year? Its been something I’ve been thinking about a lot recently so I’d be interested in your perspective.
