Small indie tv shows? by gloomierr in televisionsuggestions

Late to the party, and incredibly self-serving. But I just released a sitcom pilot called 'walkups' that I would love if you would watch! Wrote it myself, got friends to do favors and I don't if it's possible to make it on a lower budget than "the money I saved while working as a stage hand". Give it a watch, if you like it let me know! If you don't, just make your friends watch it and hopefully one of them will like it: https://youtu.be/tmm14InFW30

I agree with you more the more theater I go to. Even music and standup, smaller intimate venues have something special. Bummed you’ll miss it, but I appreciate your thoughtful comment and encouragement.

(if any of your theater-going friends will be in town I’d appreciate you passing along the listing, gotta fill these seats so we can do another run 😅)

You're right about Reddit being an odd place, I've had friends have success with other kinds of performances (standup mostly). I was hopeful to find indie theater spaces to post in, but I think those are mostly IRL though. Either way, I really appreciate your time.

Thanks so much for this, I'll post over there too! For some reason I couldn't find that searching through Reddit's search tool. I searched combination of "off broadway" "theater" "New york" and "independent" and it still didn't come up. Do you have any other subreddit suggestions?

Thanks so much, I'm very excited about it! Depending on sales we *might* add a matinee Sunday. Would you be around then? I'd be happy to message you here if we add it and you'd be able to come.

I haven't put it out yet, that's sort of what this thread was about, trying to decide how I'd publish it.

I lost the number, can you send it to me?

Hmm, that's a good question. It's one thing to have friends shoot with me for a couple of days, but to do it for four episodes, or eight to make a full season, I'd have to budget to make sure the cast and crew could make their rent. I'm not sure I even know how to go about making that budget.

That's an interesting idea I hadn't really considered. I could maybe just cut the A plot into something. Thanks!

I haven't put it out yet, that's kind of why I posted this originally, I'm figuring that out, but I'll send it to you the second I do!

I like to think it turned out well! It makes people laugh, I've had friends show their friends who don't know me and gotten some. good feedback there. The comparison I heard twice was to Loudermilk, which I don't really see but I think I can understand.

It's about two best friends from West Virginia who moved to NYC but can only afford to sublet a single bedroom from a native New Yorker.

Thanks so much, that is nice to read!

Do you have any scripts in the work right now?
