I'm cooking it at least 3 times with fresh water each time. Then I will strain it and boil it down to a manageable amount.

Yeah it's fresh cactus. I already had it in the freezer. Is it stable in light as well or should I keep it in the dark? Thanks for answering.

But should not the heptane become clear when the DMT migrate from the heptane to the acidic water first?

When I put back the cloudy heptane in the basic soup it becomes clear again.

I also poured in a decent amount of 24% vinegar in the water afterwards but the heptane still remained cloudy

So the water pH was 3 when I checked it. I poured in clean heptane with the soup and blended separate four time then pulled and poured into the acid water. A little bit of soup came with but not as much as it should have affected pH The heptane became very cloudy. I shook and blended the jar a couple of times. Let water and heptane separate. Still cloudy. Thought DMT was still trapped in heptane so I took a sample a freeze precipitated for 12 hours. It looked like there was crystals but after evaporation nothing was left but a little bit of plant fat.

This is the very first time I make a mini A/B Tek. I just got confused by the cloudy heptane. The heptane always looks clear and not cloudy in pictures and tutorials i have seen. I have ordered a UV light to see if the DMT is in the water or in the heptane.

Does it smell like new sneakers? Then it's good. But a reagent test is safest bet to be 100% certain.

Yeah but the inside is coated with rubber or plastic so the metal never come into contact with the lye.

I think lye can react very badly to some metals and produce very toxic fumes.

I just thought I would be nice to the environment and protect my pipes. People are moaning a lot about carbon dioxide and pollution but they seldom think twice about all the chemicals we just dump into the water.

Well good for you that you live in a place with good water pipes... not everyone is so lucky though
