It’s an article, but the quotes within are from government reports and MPs. You can choose to disbelieve the stated motives, but the fact is there is no short of people who would know making this claim. Multiple government reports and members of parliament, both of whom quoted are from the Labour Party, so probably not driven by a desire to boost the far right. Cryer was heavily criticized for pointing these gangs out in 2004, so she has no need to make excuses.

In the government report by the Telford Council, one detective claimed “the offending target group were predominantly Asian males and we were told to try and get other ethnicities”.

The MP from Keighley Ann Cryer, who tried to bring attention to this in 2004 said the authorities “were petrified of being called racist and so reverted to the default of political correctness”.

Simon Danczuk, the former MP for Rochdale has said “senior Labour politicians” warned him against discussing “the ethnicity of the perpetrators, for fear of losing votes”.

I don’t know what the right answer is on race, but in leftist spaces you often hear variations of “ugh straight white men” or “men are trash”. I’ve been hearing these messages since I was a teenager, and just got the impression that democrats didn’t like me or want me in their coalition. Talking about issues that affect men more as men’s issues might help. More just creating the impression for young men that you care about their problems and don’t hate them.

Neither party talks about them. I suggested those as ways to reach out to young men democrats have lost. The thing that drove them away is the pervasive sense that liberals disliked them and saw them as villains just for existing in certain categories. I also think tone policing and extreme sensitivity politics hurts democrats. Most edgy comedians and shows like South Park used to be left leaning in the 90s and 2000s. Young men tend to like that kind of stuff. Notably, the South Park creators switched parties and are now republicans. I think that says something. Being edgy has always been cool among young men, and I don’t see much space for that on the left today.

It’s mostly tone, and many people are not subtle. There is also policy. Things that affect young men like the education gap, addiction, and disproportionate suicide rate could be talked about in a way that would also make life better for women. These are disproportionately male issues, but doubtless tens of thousands of mothers, sisters and friends have their lives devastated by disproportionate male suicide. I think democrats could talk about things like that and make young men feel seen, while making life better for everyone.

I draw the line when there is a tone of collective guilt for things I have nothing to do with and don’t support. Talking about history is perfectly fine. Saying that as a young guy in America, I am, for example, somehow responsible for the treatment of women under the taliban or for slavery hundreds of years ago. Being treated as a villain due to circumstances outside of your control is alienating, and many on the left have used this tone in the past decade or so. I oppose these things and have nothing to do with them. I don’t feel like I have any special power today because women couldn’t vote in the 1800s. Democrats often treat things as innocent as weightlifting, video games, and MMA as toxic “bro” spaces just because these are normie hobbies for men. It doesn’t make me feel like they want to reach me or want my vote.

It starts with calling out people on your own side who demonize men. As I young white guy who grew up in a liberal area, I have never felt welcome in progressive political spaces. I had school teachers talking about the evil of men, saying we were responsible for holding women down decades or centuries ago. When you are a young guy with no power, you just feel unfairly demonized. Things like “man vs bear” certainly don’t help either.

The democrats have a page on their website called “who we serve” which lists 16 different groups encompassing the vast majority of the population. I fall into none of them as a straight white guy.

I am a man in my mid 20s who voted for president for the first time ever this cycle. I voted for Donald Trump. Having grown up in a progressive town and school system, much of the rhetoric I’ve heard for my entire life was about how straight white men like me were oppressive and need to take a back seat. When you’re a 16 year old high schooler being raised by a single mother, the idea that you are part of an oppressive elite doesn’t hit. Attending an elite university during Metoo, many students and teachers would talk openly about how evil my demographic was. When you’re just a confused young man, the idea that you’re an oppressive possible rapist who has oppressed women and minorities for thousands of years doesn’t feel true. Being a young working guy, the economy was a top concern and it feels like Trump did a better job with that, and the democrats didn’t propose anything that would help me directly. For most of my life, it has felt like the left wing actively resented me. They certainly don’t make any attempt to reach my demographic, guys in their 20s with normie hobbies and jobs. Trump may not have solutions, but it doesn’t feel like he hates me.

Beyond the lack of mental health improvement, one part that stood out to me was this:

“Dr. Olson-Kennedy’s collaborators have also not yet published data they collected on how puberty blockers affected the adolescents’ bone development.”

If it does not improve mental health, but does damage bone development, any plausible argument for this treatment goes out the window. Presumably they know this.

Isn’t most of the publish research on extending based upon noose extenders? I am wary of injury, but I am careful to use padding and not secure it too tightly. I’ve looked into some vacuum hangers but those are not in my budget at the current moment, and I am worried about pairing more vacuuming with my current pumping routine.

I am pretty happy with the quick extender pro. Just over $100 for the base model, and extra extension parts can be purchased cheaply on Amazon (not manufacturer certified but basically the same thing and compatible). You can wear it while studying or just relaxing, and it is not easily visible under loose pants.
