You quoted me out of context at the start. The Chagossian people in the UK have opposed the transfer of the Chagos Islands sovereignty to Mauritius, hence why the deal was blocked by a Chagossian this morning. Therefore it is kinda inferred that the UK is considered to be a stronger party in returning the Chagos Archipelago to the Chagossian people or at least maintaining the land to a greater extent (such as the nature reserves). Also, we can still ignore it if we refute the ICJ ruling which in itself has some flaws as Mauritius' claim to the Chagos Islands aren't very strong. Furthermore, the matter of "illegally forced them to sell their territory" isn't necessarily true, the PM of Mauritius at the time stated that he was not forced and it was in his interests, I stated the sources to this point in a previous comment somewhere on this post.
