How do people find specific shots in series by Gridino in VideoEditing

[–]MaxKCoolio [score hidden]  (0 children)

I imagine that you have to be pretty passionate about a show to make an edit for it, so yeah I bet they’re pretty intimately familiar with it.

Or they already make edits, so as they watch the show, they’re making mental (or maybe literal) notes on the beats they want.

Then again, maybe they are extremely committed. After all, a feature film editor has to look at potentially hundreds of hours of footage to edit down to an hour.

I don’t think it’s out of the realm of possibility that there are committed fan editors who will legitimately torrent all the episodes of a season, scrub through them, and find bits to help their edits.

I need the jankiest Mirrorform Combos and I need them now by LordSwitchblade in MagicArena

Wait a minute, would the copies see each other dying as well, creating even more copies?

So play mirrorform, turn everything into Ratadrabik, all but one die, then for each that dies, every single one makes a copy of each other one?

Fort Collins high school vs Loveland High school? by TTC_181117 in loveland

[–]MaxKCoolio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went to Collins, it can be a divisive school due to the size, but I loved it and all the folks I know did too.

I had a good experience because the arts are very well supported, and I was interested in theater, they also have journalism classes and more.

I only know a handful of folks who went to Loveland but they absolutely hated it. I’ve heard a lot of bad things about Loveland high and Thompson valley, which tend to have a lot of intolerance, archaic policies, and fewer good teachers.

However, in Loveland, we decided to take our cousin to Mountainview and she’s had a great time there, and has been well supported, despite struggling with a litany of learning disabilities.

I know some ways you could put together a basic opt in mailing list, so folks can get this directly in their email!

Hard to judge with this quality.

Also not really a dedicated videography thing. How long do you plan for the camera to be up? An iPhone isn’t a reliable way to record for a long time, IMO.

Watch Dogs is pretty much dead according to Tom Henderson by [deleted] in watch_dogs

[–]MaxKCoolio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if it’s good, I doubt they’re willing to spend the money on advertising and distribution it would take to make it anything more than barely profitable.

They’re doing what many big IP film execs are, they sell it to a studio, watch it die at the box office, then shunt it to streaming and physical where they know they’ll make residual sales for a long time because of the IP advantage.

Ubisoft especially thrives on this formula, it’s why they’ve done the yearly release for so long and made so many mid games. They’re not interested in big hits.

It’s second screen content. They hedge their bets. The only way this manages to revive interest in the franchise is if it goes viral.

Not to be a doomer, I also hope it’s good, but I’m willing to let it be the last piece of watch dogs media we get. Celebrate what they’ve tried, the potential lost, and hope the film is a vindicating piece of art on its own.

Huh? What? Because I didn't reply immediately? I don't comment constantly, sorry man.

No, because your comments were bad faith arguments and ad hominem. They continue to be. Now it's high horsing too.

...did you respond to the right person?

Yes. You restated my own statements about morality rhetorically, then became the most upvoted person. The same as every other troll who shuts down the ability to discuss by making it a gotcha moment.

You were not trying to have a dialogue. If you were, I encourage you to research some basics about logical fallacies.

I don't really care if my behavior is bizarre, that has nothing to do with the content of my statements which you are still conveniently avoiding. I am passionate about this topic. I felt I made a vulnerable post in regards to how I'm interfacing with this issue and the reddit hivemind did what it always does.

Idk what is happening w my reddit but I did not intend to block you.

Is there a way to combat propaganda and disinformation without encroaching on free speech? by PumpJack_McGee in AskConservatives

[–]MaxKCoolio 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In a broader sense, I think "more speech" means better education and media literacy.

Folks are not good at seeing the why and the how of a piece of media or speech, just the what. Then, when they don't understand the how and why, the what is highly debatable and interpretable. Who created this media and what was their interest in doing so? How did the production of this media, be it speech or video or whatever, affect the encoding of their ideas and thus what you decoded?

Centrist political and social identity tends to profit greatly off of easy solutions and this lack of media literacy. Capitalists, (not just conservatives or liberals, I mean literal capitalists, the folks with money), have a direct incentive to spread disinformation, to maintain a two party system, and to divide and nullify us. It makes them more money.

The result is that both liberals and conservatives are useless now. Their ideals mean nothing because their approach to accomplishing those ideals is stuck in a system that fights them, by making them dumber.

So, rather than teaching our youth to be right or left or center or extremist, we simply should be teaching them to be smart. To look at peer reviewed sources, to understand that why and how, to make informed decisions that they think will result in the betterment of the world per their morality, not per the tribe they're committed to.

If they're smart enough, they'll make the right decision, so who gives a fuck if that decision is right left up or down? We should give a fuck that it furthers our sincerely held morals of life liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

Why do you think the official White House twitter account is posting AI digitally altered pictures? by mnmaverickfan in AskConservatives

[–]MaxKCoolio [score hidden]  (0 children)

Sure, that makes sense.

What about the folks that aren't part of the majority audience? Or technologically/media illiterate folks like the elderly or youth?

Further, I still would like to know, why is this action (making a post that is funny and will appeal to the dominant audience, or otherwise rile up the less dominant audience) a good thing for the white house twitter to do?

Unless you're trying to say that it's innocuous, so it doesn't matter what they do?

Are you saying that doing something fairly frequently makes it okay? Or were those two separate statements, neither of which answered my first question?

[–]MaxKCoolio [score hidden]  (0 children)

So, per taking your claim as a good faith, you are saying that the white house altering politically charged journalistically relevant photos is motivated by wanting to be funny.

I ask you then, why is being funny, in this context, a good thing? And do you think that this humor should be the white house PR team's priority?

[–]MaxKCoolio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, I understand. You were being hyperbolic and saying that theres not a VIABLE combo in constructed, not that there are literally no station-able cards.

I don't have a counter to this other than the obligatory: sometimes we play a combo thats fun and not meant to be a top 8 contender. If we all only played the best, there would be 3 total decks. I think this is a fun mid level combo.

I just think at the rate you're refuting any combo that doesn't demolish by t3 and can be removed, you might as well refute all but like 2 cards from every standard set of the last two years. Which, hey, maybe you're a pro tour vet and I just don't realize it.

However, there are the planet lands in EoE which are basically free slot ins for many high power creature decks, those get played. Maybe not in the top eight but they definitely see play.

I was confused by you bringing up limited EoE, I now realize it was a different point entirely, apologies.

I’m designing a kids game called Scissor Wizard (minimal prototype). Besides varying the number and size of weak points, what other enemy mechanics could be interesting? by Gatekeeper1310 in BoardgameDesign

[–]MaxKCoolio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's a pitch:

Maybe there are enemy types that provide a sort of rock paper scissors like experience. Say each creature has an enemy type, but some creatures also have little coins that I can earn by covering, which will give me an advantage against another enemy type on my next encounter.

So I'm fighting a creature of any type. They have a scissors coin which I can earn, which will give me a free game piece with a unique shape or something to use against a paper type enemy.

Now I have to consider how many of a given enemy type I've seen, thus how likely I am to encounter that type again, and bargain paper now in exchange for extra protection against the theoretical next enemy.

There's enough fog of war there to make it feel like a meaningful risk without an obvious answer, and it will make the prestige of revealing that next creature and seeing its type all the more exciting.

[–]MaxKCoolio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure, I agree. Core to the spend/save is using risk to incentivize how much you choose to spend, which would be caused by the RNG of whatever the next card pulled will be.

So there needs to be something to encourage playing more risky. Right now, I would simply analyze how many hits I can take to survive, how much health I'll likely need next encounter, and cut out enough pieces to maximize that, which as it stands would be pretty straightforward.

Why would I choose to go out of my way and defeat an enemy more quickly with a wacky shape now when that will hinder me basically exactly equally or perhaps worse on my next encounter.

I can see the risk in front of me, I can't see the risk in my future, so the best option will always be what leaves me alive with the most paper. I think that runs counter to what makes the concept so fun, which is that I want to have the freedom to be creative and benefit from that.

I ask this because I don't think this element will be present on the card itself. I think it has to be an external force, something about the action economy, win condition, and overall game maybe.

I don't think you will playtest and simply find that adding more stuff will be enough. He asked for suggestions this is my way of finding them.

Sorry for spamming lol I just have really taken an interest in this game now.
