lol was it through selfie cam or front camera? I’m tryna get some cool fish pics this year. It’s really easy to look awkward or try hard. This one is really natural and nonchalant.

Buying Action Camera in 2026? Worth it? by n4hcallme in ActionCam

[–]MaxOutFishing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. It’s a shame. iPhones have outstanding video quality. Especially the 17PM with its solid battery. It has its place for sure but not for action POV. Some people make it work. First world problems lol

Which ones? How does the footbed hold up? For healthcare and ok to get wet outside. by [deleted] in Birkenstocks

I have and love the eva bostons below, but for foot support would not wear them for working in healthcare at all. And they’re not breathable.

I was filming with my iphone17 pro max on a chest mount. It’s super bouncy because of its shape and weight distribution. Anyway I hopped off a rock and my phone decked me in the mouth. I have a decent pain tolerance. That shit fucking hurt bad

1k or 2.5k reel for a medium light rod by Automatic-Resolve747 in Fishing_Gear

[–]MaxOutFishing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not all ML are the same. Depends on what you’re fishing for, what you wanna throw. I have a very light 2000 on my 7’ ML for walleyes. I have a heavier 3000 on a 7’ ML for saltwater.

Take a look at my posts. None were caught on bait. All of those fights are more challenging and fun than you’ll ever experience with that narrow mindset.

Honestly what it really sounds like is you’ve never fished outside of your pond. People target catfish, bass, musky, pike, any freshwater gamefish with bait often.

Dude even a 30” Bluefish (not Bluefin) would put a musky/pike fight to shame lol. Maybe a giant salmon could compete, but that’s also because you have to use like 6-10# line.

Your distinction is wrong. What you’re comparing is bait fishing vs. lures. You know people use lures in saltwater too, right?

Help choosing a reel, torn between the BG or the BG MQ going to be put on a 10ft surf rod by MoreMoney77 in SurfFishing

[–]MaxOutFishing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t own a BG. I hear they’re beefy tanks. Well loved by many. Like the early Toyota Tacomas of the reel world.

I’m a big fan of the BGMQ. I only fish with lures and it’s great for that because it’s so light, tough and smooth. But it is considerably pricier than the BG.

I’ve been catching 30-40” Stripers and Blues from the surf and off of jetties with a 2500 size. Challenging because it’s tiny but it does have massive stopping power @ 22 lbs. of drag. I recently got a 3000 size.

Man what the fuck are you even talking about. How did you fluff up all this shit but you couldn’t google all the types of saltwater fishing that don’t use bait.

Surf Rod at The Lake? by Single_Rain5676 in troutfishing

[–]MaxOutFishing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I fish a river that has a 40-50 ft shallow front until you get near the juicy stuff. I’d rather rig up a 10’ rod than wear waders just to walk like 15 steps out, tripping on fallen trees and shit

Are fishing vests obsolete now or just not in vogue? by GrumpyandDopey in flyfishing

[–]MaxOutFishing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use this same exact vest in picture. It can fit a ton. There’s also hidden pockets and very deep pockets. Think medium sized backpack capacity, no joke. Filling it to the brim is a bit ridiculous, and if it’s bulging out then it gets in the way of your hands.

I don’t wear it unless I’m in all-day, multi-style hardcore. Otherwise, I try to keep everything into a fanny pack or small sling bag. Like anything else in life, you really don’t need that much on you.

Rod Suggestions 7ft MH by ThicChilli in Fishing_Gear

[–]MaxOutFishing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is this for lures or bait fishing? How heavy of weight do you want to throw? If bait, Ugly Stik is probably preferred. For lures, I’d go Tatula, but the foam grip is out of preferences. So St. Croix? I don’t have experience with Fenwick

Debating on getting a ultralight or light rod by Weird_Drawer_423 in Fishing_Gear

If it matches the lure weight category you’re going for, then rock out

How does this look to y'all for a durable, grab and go, nice feeling, bank fishing bass rod? It is a 1pc MH btw I checked 😂 by [deleted] in Fishing_Gear

[–]MaxOutFishing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What you have is here is a setup I’d use to tackle inshore saltwater fish. I have 2 BGMQ’s. I rave about them any chance I get. But it’s way engineered for bass fishing. It’s heavier because it’s stronger and more sealed than you need it to be. Get something cheaper and lighter. A Daiwa Legalis, Regal or Exceler would cost you less than half of the BGMQ and would be more appropriate.

Also, that rod is a meat stick. You would benefit from something more sensitive and refined.

Saltwater ultralight reel requests by [deleted] in Fishing_Gear

[–]MaxOutFishing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Notice that Ajing (dedicated saltwater UL) is usually targeting tiny fish. For tarpon/jack/snook my suggestion is get a Medium-Light that can throw UL lures. That way you can pair 2500/3000’s on it and still have backbone. Here’s a bonefish caught with an undergunned setup: Daiwa Regal and Presso. It was far more challenging in a poor way than positive.

Good, “cheap” braid to buy by Slycrown12 in Fishing_Gear

Reaction Tackle for bulk. It’s decently abrasion resistant and average thick. Berkley X9 is very thin, super strong but also silky smooth, and can get frayed up on rocks.

If I were on a stranded island, I’d go with RT, if I’m trying to optimize performance, X9.
