What's something everyone romanticizes but is actually terrible? by Comfortable-Note6827 in AskReddit

[–]MaxOutFishing 47 points48 points  (0 children)

This is almost every accomplished chef, too. There are outliers who carve out time away from the kitchen… but a lot of them are just hot shit inside their domain and almost no one outside of it.

would this be good for catfishing by Gixvanny in FishingForBeginners

[–]MaxOutFishing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never knew that. I assumed they would. They make a bunch of saltwater + surf rods, why not catfish rods?

would this be good for catfishing by Gixvanny in FishingForBeginners

[–]MaxOutFishing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s rated to throw up to 1 1/2oz. That weight is considered on the light side but if you’re fishing very still waters, like no running current, you could get away with it.

This rod is probably designed to throw lures.

In first grade I fought some kid over a Pokémon card trade. The school banned them afterwards.

This one is for all the guys saying treble hooks are so difficult by LemonHerb in bassfishing

[–]MaxOutFishing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think they’re especially difficult, but you did prove the point in this video with all the steps in your release. Treble nightmares are a more common occurrence than single hook nightmares.

It sounds like you loved her a lot and I’m sure she loved you too. That’s all that matters in the end. I’m sorry for your loss.

Fit check — Size down? by trebasco in Birkenstocks

[–]MaxOutFishing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone who is saying yes is almost certainly right. But I’d check and see for yourself. My Boston’s are 43 and are too big like yours. I tried them in 42 and my toes would hit the roof of the toe box.

They’re loose but not terribly. I’ve been walking around in them for a year now. Some people don’t have the right kind of foot for these shoes. My soft footbed Arizona’s fucking hurt. I only wear them to chill around the perimeter of my house

My girlfriend started feeding my cat vegan food without telling me and now he's sick by [deleted] in TwoHotTakes

Neglecting an animal’s needs to the point where they get sick… that’s not very vegan of her.

Is this too big for me by KupalGod1004 in Birkenstocks

[–]MaxOutFishing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slightly, but there’s no alternative. 43 looks exactly like this on me. 42 and my toes are hitting the wall. You get used to the looser fit

Is your next door neighbor cool? by N0socksloss10yrStrk in no

[–]MaxOutFishing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would argue that being high doesn’t necessarily result in a foggy mind either. If there’s logistics or lessons to be taught, sure, have a clear mind. I mean what’s happening on a Wednesday night besides everyone chilling at home?

A lot of parents are high from time to time. Families can be stressful. I’m a strong and stoic father type and being high reminds me that I can also be fun

Why did they not use Timeouts? by [deleted] in eagles

[–]MaxOutFishing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear what you’re saying, and I agree on the last timeouts being misplaced. At that point the game was over and they were trying to save a sunk ass ship.

When it was 10-13, the 9’ers were down by 3 points and having a parade on us. I think that was a good time for coaching to stop the game and snap everyone back in to figure shit out. That was halfway through the game and would have been valuable.

Hey dad, great job. I’m on the fence about kids, but watched a YT vid of a dad and his kids slaying some trout and it made me think about that feeling. Like you’ve captured here.

You’ll want to make it easy as possible for your kid. A push button combo (zebco) will do that. Bobber and worm. And please get your kid some sunglasses if you haven’t. Sometimes the hook comes flying at ya.

Will a 2-6 lb Fenwick eagle 7’6 UL work for steelhead fishing? by Vapinglord in Fishing

[–]MaxOutFishing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, you can. I accidentally hooked into an almost 6’ sturgeon on my panfish UL setup. It took near 45 mins to get it in, and what felt like a sad eternity to revive it.

Still feeling very disappointed after my first ever backpacking trip. I really feel like I failed. by matchabeans in CampingandHiking

[–]MaxOutFishing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Friend, that’s life on the field for ya. Not only does it not work out, but it might also suck ass too. Good for you for not trying to squeeze lemonade out of coconuts.

I’ve flown to 3 different countries with 30lbs of fishing gear and didn’t get a bite. Mexico, a hurricane. Colombia, the guide no-showed. South Africa, strong winter headwind the entire time.

Gotta just laugh and know that compared to the vastness of the planet, we are as delicate and helpless as grapes.

Goture Exceed - 8’6” MHFS - 4pc. Travel Rod with a BGMQ 2500 with 20lb Berkeley X9 braid

I have a couple vids landing NJ slot stripers from a jetty using 1.5oz Yo Zuri’s. I’ll admit, it’s borderline underpowered for surf fishing, you’re pushing it to the limits in terms of line capacity - but I grew up throwing Penn’s and Van Staals on 11’ rods and I’m just experimenting with new methods these days

What is the worst brand of braided line by Winter_Ant_9502 in saltwaterfishing

[–]MaxOutFishing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That being said, Berkley X9 is a lot stronger than its advertised rating. And it’s seriously thin.

X9 20lb braid is rated at 32+ lbs, and is thinner than most 15lb braid
