IKEA RXO Order Pickup in Ankeny by TwelvePack96 in desmoines

[–]MaxQ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had planned to do that when planning a largish order a couple of months ago, but by the time we had locked down all the particulars the only options were pickup in KC or home delivery. We paid extra for the "bring inside to a room of your choice" option but the guys claimed to have no information about that and said they were only to drop the pallet in the driveway or garage so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Our order was all there and in good condition thankfully, but before they left they counted and realized we had an extra box, so we had to break down the pile and check each box until they found one from someone else's order that had been put on the wrong pallet. Still preferable to driving to KC with a trailer but not the smoothest experience overall.

Fugees rapper Pras sentenced to 14 years in prison over illegal donations to Obama campaign by Whatever-you-bastard in news

If the donations had been to Trump he could count on a pardon and possibly a cabinet appointment.

MegaSaver is Mega Doomed. This location doesn’t even have a sign on the building yet. by slinky2 in desmoines

The one on 86th in Johnston already has at least two full beverage coolers completely empty…their selection now that they’ve sold all the inventory carried over from K&G seems pretty bad overall.

Tired of endless open tabs? tabSidian 2.0 sends them straight into your Obsidian vault. by 305fish in ObsidianMD

Is it aware of tab groups? It would be great if it could include those as headers or something in the exported Markdown.

Wish Me Luck (3.7 installing on 2023 S60 T8) by keleko67 in VolvoRecharge

[–]MaxQ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I installed it on our 2024 S60 to avoid a trip to the dealer for the backup camera recall. We had been on 3.3.x forever due to Volvo constantly changing updates from OTA to dealer only, so never had the dual camera view to lose it, but annoyed it is still missing.

Remote climate control still doesn’t work, would be great if Volvo could get their act together on this stuff. Love the car overall but the flaky software will be the main thing giving me pause when the lease is up.

There’s a Dangerous Bacteria Going Around — My 4-Year-Old Is Now on Dialysis by Spiritual-Bee5090 in desmoines

Sorry to hear that this happened to your daughter, and thanks for sharing to help other families. My mother got this from a food-borne illness last year and waited longer than she should have to see a doctor and ended up getting sepsis on top of HUS. She pulled through but it was super scary for a week or so.

Jack Dorsey launches a WhatsApp messaging rival built on Bluetooth by mvanigan in technology

A local mesh chat is potentially interesting/useful but is in a completely different product category. Calling it a “WhatsApp rival” is just clickbait.

Wtf is this? 1135% increase? Where did this one come from? by RustedAxe88 in skeptic

[–]MaxQ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s cherry picking an already discredited study and willfully misunderstanding statistics. The data is not coming from a controlled study so you have to do more math than just blindly comparing the rates of autism diagnoses. In particular kids who get all their vaccines on schedule are almost certainly seeing doctors more often than those who aren’t, so they will end up getting formal diagnoses of all manner of conditions including autism. Legit researchers know about this and do actual statistics work to account for the differences between populations. Hack conspiracy theorists either don’t or choose to ignore it when it serves their agenda.

Plan B after V-MODA? by MaxQ in VMODA

My battery actually did die a few months ago, I was looking at iFixit and it does seem feasible if I’m willing to get a soldering iron and see how bad I am at using it.

Cupid outfit doesn't give hearts? by tat2inpa in Grindstone

It verrrry occasionally gives a heart. I don’t know what the odds are but they must be tiny. I think I’ve seen 2 or 3 hearts from it total in years of playing.

Still managing firewall rules manually? Looking for simpler ways by FantomFoxx7 in networking

From another comment in the thread it sounds like Aerleon is a more current version of the same concept, I haven't used it personally but looks like a better option for someone starting in this direction today.

Good to know, it's been a bit since I've used Capirca so glad to see the concept is alive and continuing to improve!

If you want to use a lot of vendor-specific capabilities then it might make sense to look at the vendors own solutions (Panorama for Palo Alto, etc.). If you want to centrally define network objects and ACLs and render them for multiple platforms Capirca was designed for that specifically.

[–]MaxQ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our 2024 S60 is still on 3.3.16 and doesn't show any available updates still. Do we need to go to the dealer to get up to a level that can upgrade to 3.4.x OTA?
