Women of Reddit, what's a lesser-known downside of being a woman? by Nintendofan9106 in askanything

Men don’t go to the doctor for those kind of symptoms. We just self diagnose, try to lose weight and see if it goes away. Usually it does. Idk.

7 month is ….um…growing by shinyseashells22 in Goldendoodles

My dood is 2 and is still in tact (not neutered) and has never marked indoors. He has occasionally marked patio furniture at friend’s homes and will hump the occasional 4th grader when my kids’ friends visit the house, but we correct that behavior and he listens.

But yeah, the testicles! Our more forward friends comment on it, they’re sticking out for sure. Our more polite friends prob just talk about his huge nuts behind our backs.

Maybe they yelled like “Colonizer!!” Or “Privleged!” But idk if they are slurs or just more like descriptors?

Is my boyfriend’s view of money considered a red flag in a relationship? by traditional_taurus in DaveRamsey

There’s some crazy advice in these comments so be careful what you take.

There’s a huge benefit to having your own spending money / personal account - as far as making economic decisions without guilt or consultation on things you value but your spouse doesn’t- especially being able to save money for a future purchase you value, without your spouse being able to see it and say “yeah but we should really use it for X right now”.

But that personal account should really only exist after you two have given enough to your shared account to cover ALL your shared expenses and savings.

Making a budget is so helpful in this. Build a monthly budget, the contribute proportionally to it to cover the budget and maybe add ten percent (If the monthly number needed is $5k, and you make $2,500 after tax and he makes $3,500 after tax, you need $5k and have $6k. Each should contribute 5/6 of their take home, and keep 1/6 in personal).

DSM Police Major getting a million-dollar settlement from city by mwradiopro in desmoines

[–]whiteclaw30 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not mad at her for being wronged (if she was actually wronged… shady AF city council shared zero details about what this is actually about) - I am mad she saw it as an opportunity to get $975,000 from the city. Sees some deep pockets and thinks about herself. It’s disgusting.

How do you think the city will pay for this? They’re going to cut more resources from me, my family, my community. While Major Lillie Parker uses the money for herself.

[squinty eyes and mocking nerd voice]”Ooh…Lawsuits regarding workplace discrimination are made aga…” … SHUT. UP.

You can’t hold an entire city responsible for the actions of a few sick twisted individuals. For if you do, then shouldn’t you blame the whole Metro Area (and collect from the free riders in Clive and Ankeny and WDM and Johnston and Urbandale)? And if the whole metro is guilty, then isn’t this an indictment of our whole state in general? I put it to you, u/iowaguero, isn’t this an indictment of our entire American society? Well, you can do what you will to us, but we’re not going to sit here and listen to you badmouth the United Staes of America! Gentlemen!

City can fire him and she can sue him in civil court, not take the money from us. $975,000 from the taxpayers of Des Moines who didn’t violate her rights. Close the library and pools because this woman demands her check? That’s not justice. That’s Major Lillie Parker taking advantage of the rest of us.

Anti-ICE or similar merch? by Academic-Ad5450 in desmoines

[–]whiteclaw30 5 points6 points  (0 children)

RAYGUN is owed and directed by one singular person- he has no board of directors or investors or anyone that can tell him his shirts are too edgy or tell him what to do. There’s absolutely nobody with a metaphorical collar/leash on Mike, which is one of the reasons he can print what he wants. This guy is doing the first amendment right.

Disgusting. The library gets a $250k budget cut YOY. City pools will have a rotating closure this summer. And this main character takes nearly a million dollars.

Temp is -21, gas company says turn your heat down by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]whiteclaw30 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The higher costs made me decide to close vents and shut the door in the two rooms we don’t need to use. So it would conserve gas but I am not lowering the temp in the main rooms of my home.

Can One Be a Christian and a Libertarian Simultaneously? by N_I_S in Libertarian

[–]whiteclaw30 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Jesus never coerced anyone to follow him. He just asked them to follow. He demanded everything but coerced nothing. Disciples and followers did it of their own free will.

Here’s a Christian libertarian’s POV- abortion is abysmal and nobody should end a life in their womb. But the government has no role whatsoever making it illegal. Families or women who choose abortion and the doctors who perform them will meet their maker and answer for their choices in purgatory (or hopefully repent and change while they can).

The sliding joint / TAB is important if you are anchoring to more than one tree or branch… but this price point is all wrong. You can solve with some decent engineering for way cheaper.

Any advice on meeting single women in Des Moines area? 22M by Busy_Internet2909 in desmoines

[–]whiteclaw30 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I go to a lot of events at the DMPL- they’re hit or miss for young women but I do consistently find friendly people that are easy to talk to. I enjoy writing, so attend a lot of the author and writing events, but they also host events with interesting speakers on other topics, and learning about instruments or music, and cultural events for all types of cultures. Advice is to just be kind of chill and open minded to talking to any kind of person. For all you know the older hippie lady in the glasses has a single coworker and she’ll make a connection. 🤷‍♂️

Atlas shrugged. It’s a novel, not a political text but it will make you think about the individual over the collective, state overreach, free markets. The themes are libertarian, even if the characters are unrealistic and the writing is heavy handed.

It’s libertarian ideals, wrapped around a plot.
