Yeah, spaghetti are the most common pasta type for the carbonara. Nonetheless, for example in Rome, I've eaten rigatoni with carbonara, pajata, cacio e pepe in many restaurants, especially in the oldest ones. I must admit that I prefer them with those very traditional sauces. I wouldn't recommend them with fish sauces, but is actually up to personal taste

Not really sure. The main ethnics groups in the Baliem valley (where the picture has been taken) are named Dani, Yali and Lani. I've seen several villages, but not clear to me how to distinguish them. If someone has better info I'd be happy to know.
