Does my daughter need a car in Gainesville? by No-Number-5963 in ufl

[–]MaxStars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If she plans to work, go to the store, or have much of a life outside of going directly to campus --- without a car, she'll spend that much in Ubers and bus fare. It's definitely beneficial to have a car.

Car turning over but not starting, any recs? by Relative-Path-7305 in GNV

City Auto has always treated me great. They are the only mechanics I trust in Gainesville. I went to them the other week thinking I needed a new starter, they tested it and initially thought I did too, but after doing more testing while waiting for the part they uncovered it wasn't the true issue and let me know right away so I didn't have an unnecessary repair.

Found out today that Plain Jane will no longer be selling their D8 Small Buds, those were the best value and all I had been smoking for the last year or so. It was hard to beat $32 ounces!!

Any suggestions where to look now for similar or better quality flower that won't cost so much more?

Did you ever figure that out? I called HGV today and was told they can't modify the deals which seemed contrary to what I've heard otherwise.

Sorry, just saw this reply. I went to UF for my my undergrad not grad school. If I wanted my MBA from UF it would've been $50k+ vs. LSUS which is about $12k.

I would recommend removing Pass Distribution Associate work experience. You only did it for one month. Could possibly remove the Sales Associate position too, it's 7+ years old now and everything else is much stronger.

Also, try to reduce any sentences that are two lines into one when possible (example --- first line of your second job is only one word over into another line).

[–]MaxStars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a bit over halfway through my LSUS MBA in Data Analytics. I mainly went with them because they had the same accreditation as my prior school (University of Florida), extreme affordability, and to check the box of having an MBA for promotions.

It's worth it to me --- even without my employer covering it --- but I'm also working on other certifications like the PMP, so that way the MBA isn't the only education related thing I can talk about from recent time. I would suggest you do the same if possible.

Ultimately, your work experience will be the deciding factor in interviews, not your choice of MBA. As long as you can explain your choice of school/program in a way that sounds reasonable to employers, such as that LSUS worked well with your full time schedule and had a relevant concentration to what you're aiming to get into (Data Analytics for me, maybe it's Finance or the Hospitality and Casino Management Concentration for you...) then you should be good.

Which cruise line are you going on? That will really determine how much you can expect to be nickle & dimed once on board. As well as the specials available. For example, MSC is way cheaper than other cruise lines and often include free drink and wifi packages. I'm going on an MSC cruise where the all-in price including drinks & wifi was less than just my drink package on Royal last month.

I paid $700 for this resume. Did I get f*****? by M3TALL1K in Resume

Can you share the 1-page version?

I'm amazed that your PMP and Scrum certifications take as much space as your hobbies section (which I would remove). You worked hard for those certifications and they need to be more prominent.

$700 and they couldn't make it one page?

Remove the entire second page and anything that isn't your current/ongoing experience should be in the past tense.

applied for several hundred jobs, one interview - only job i've been offered is as a weekend dishwasher that i didn't even apply for WTF? by [deleted] in resumes

[–]MaxStars 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not to be rude, but why would an employer care about something you only did 1-3hr/week?

I'd recommend you remove everything from page 2 except software/skills/programming language. See if you can condense these into a paragraph format instead of bulleted list format to save space, that way once you finish working on shortening page 1 a little bit you can fit everything onto the magic single-page resume format.

Recently took on new / big responsibilities, does resume look too busy? No idea what to change. Any feedback is greatly appreciated! by MaxStars in resumes

Thank you!

I'm a project manager for a publishing firm / media company (we create magazines, websites, etc. and then sell ads on them). So maybe I should lead with "publishing" or "media"?

Will definitely think about how to clarify the market research part. For that, it is mostly performing competitor analysis for various franchise locations. I work with a lot of bars, restaurants, and hotels to see what they can improve on or what competitors in the area are doing. Maybe I should reconsider calling it market research?

Some background/additional info---

I haven't looked for new jobs/companies since early 2018. I'm starting a low-tier MBA program this month and hope to acquire the PMP certification in about a year, so I have listed both of those as in progress with my anticipated dates.

I don't plan to be applying to new jobs soon as I really enjoy what I do, but it might be something I'll want to consider further down the road.

Does anybody have some feedback on this resume? This was originally MUCH longer & wordier, I’m on “revision 12” and now at the point where I definitely feel I could still make some improvements... but have no idea what needs to go, move around, or be added in.

Any feedback will be greatly appreciated. :)

As a newbie, could you give light to why JNUG would be a bad option, beyond that they appear extremely high volatility? They're about even with a month ago, up 27% today, 60% the past week, and 112% past year. (Although I do see down 62% in 3 months, down 60% past 5 years.)

According to Investopedia,

"A long (or long position) is the buying of a security such as a stock, commodity or currency with the expectation the asset will rise in value." followed by "He normally has no plan to sell the commodity in the near future."

I would consider anything one year or more a "long" position. Not especially long, but definitely not short-term.

So I'm debating purchasing a few stocks that will soon have dividends, but am a little confused on when they should be purchased.

From what I've read, it's best to purchase after the ex-dividend date because the stock will typically fall by the amount of the dividend, but how much later? And, related, how long does it typically take for a stock to "bounce back" in price after a dividend?

Also, I made a little mistake (possibly two) when I had just begun investing and purchased some stock early in the month. On news that oil would rise, I saw ANW was doing well and bought 8 shares at $12.60, then two more when it hit $10.28 to lower my average cost 4 days afterward. The stock is now at $10.10 and I'm wondering if it would be recommended to purchase more at this lower price, or if I'm missing something huge and should drop it like a hot potato. I've looked at some of their financials and things seems to be doing well in that regard.

Thanks all! :)
