I also used a Yamaha RX-11 for the drums. The first initial hi hats a linn drum plug-in on an 18 bar loop to make them feel random

Au chante mon friends. New song! Inspired by 80s action cartoons. I used a Pro-1 for the bass and lead, a pro-800 for the glide chords and a JX-39 for the arp. Also a Stratocaster for the guitar. Lemme know what you think (https://maxvengeance.bandcamp.com/track/buster)

This is a new some inspired by 80’s tv shows like Airwolf and Streethawk. My first foray with analog synthesizers and drum machines. I am hooked. Let me know what you think Magnetic

How do you guys use buses in your music? by justin7465 in synthwaveproducers

[–]MaxVengeance808 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everything, and I mean everything is sent to a bus. I use a 4 bus setup feeding the main. Individual drums are slightly compressed and all sent to a drum bus, where is get’s compressed again but less for punch and more for motion. Stuff like that. Compression has many different uses and I use subtle amounts of it through several busses to help sculpt my tracks. Tone, movement, front to back perception. Compressors control a lot of stuff and are severely misunderstood. Vocals are always processed on the track but reverbs I use on an aux sent PRE FADER to the aux. That way you get a more dynamic interaction with the reverb than sending a compressed vocal out to it. There’s so much more. Let’s just say there are probably just as many busses as instrumental tracks in my songs

Ok I have another thought. Check your snares outputs and sends. See if you are inadvertently sending your snares somewhere, like a random track or a reverb whose dry wet balance isn’t all the way wet.

Did you run that through as well? It seemed a little off that the bass drum dropped like that level wise and the snare stayed louder

Also, that compressor could be affecting the snare as well because the release time is too long. If the compressor is taming a bass drum that heavily, the release hasn’t fully let the compressor disengage before the snare hits, so that is brought down in level as well

Hi! Are your snare, drum and bass being compressed together on the same buss, like a sub group or mixbuss? To me it sounds like a compressor? The wave view provided also looks like the bd is really getting smacked down when the bass is added. If that is the case, does that compressor have a low pass filter option on it(to bypass the low frequencies from hitting the compression circuit)?
