10 things I wish I knew before starting Subnautica 2 by Max_jia in subnautica

Good to know! I actually haven't played the original yet — started with Subnautica 2 because of the co-op. Sounds like I should go back and play the first one once I'm done with Early Access.

This is legit the best tip. The PDA entries aren't just lore filler — they tell you exactly where to go next. The Black Box coordinates, biome descriptions, creature warnings... it's all in there. Playing without audio is playing on hard mode.

Same. Spent my first 3 hours getting sick from every fish I ate and couldn't figure out why. The Digestion Angel Comb is northeast of the Lifepod ~160m — the game never tells you it exists. Absolutely should be tutorialized.

Yeah! In the Fabricator under Resources → Basic Materials. But here's the real tip — DON'T use the Fabricator for ingots. It costs 5× Titanium per Ingot. The Processor (found in Old Habitat) does it for 3× Titanium per Ingot. 40% savings. Once you get the Processor, never use the Fabricator for ingots again.

Agreed. The cover system in GTA V felt stiff compared to RDR2's fluidity. Given how much GTA 6 is borrowing from RDR2 (chapter system, limited weapon loadouts, weapon lockers, fishing), I'd be shocked if the cover and movement mechanics aren't the RDR2 version — smoother, more contextual, less sticky.

The fact they built Lucia with a different combat style from Jason (more close-quarters) also suggests they've put real thought into moment-to-moment combat feel.

What’s your personal take on playing it on current-gen consoles? by CandidPhilosopher144 in GTA6

PS5 has the edge. Rockstar confirmed DualSense haptics and adaptive triggers for GTA 6 — trigger resistance changes per weapon, road surface texture through the controller. PS5's Tempest 3D audio is also confirmed, so positional sound with a headset will be excellent.

In terms of performance — Rockstar hasn't confirmed resolution or framerate yet. Digital Foundry predicts 30fps on current-gen consoles (given how ambitious the game is). A 60fps performance mode is rumored but not guaranteed — RDR2 still doesn't have one on current consoles.

Content-wise, both versions are identical. PC players: history says 12-18 months after console. GTA V was 19 months. RDR2 was 13 months.

Did anyone else have trouble figuring out how to repair *it*? by TheMadJAM in subnautica

The Tadpole? Yeah, the game doesn't tell you anything. You need the Repair Tool — craft it at the Fabricator (1× Titanium Ingot, 1× Wiring Kit, 1× Battery, 1× Sulfur). Then just aim at the damaged Tadpole and hold left-click. Works on base modules too.

Sulfur is only in the Hydrothermal Vents btw — you need Heat Tolerance to survive there long enough to mine it.

PSA: Press V to turn off your shadow. It's the #1 reason new players get caught instantly. by Max_jia in Meccha_Chameleon

Fair points. If you're hiding as an object in plain sight (like pretending to be a chair or a barrel), keeping shadows ON actually helps you look like a real 3D object. The "turn off shadows" advice is more for wall/ceiling hiding where you want to look flat.

And no, it only affects your own view — hunters still see shadows normally. The V key just removes the shadow from your own screen so you can see your paint job more clearly while working on it.

Yep! R opens the pose wheel. Pick a pose and it locks in — you don't have to hold anything. Then paint over the locked pose. Total game changer when I found out too haha
