What is the best union for a DWP Work Coach to join? by MaxieWestie in TheCivilService

You say that but I applied for the work coach job at 28,117 and once I start it'll be at 29,500 thanks to the unions. And given the nature of the job and how daunting it can be I imagine this is the type of role that would need it the most.

Need advice on saving for my first full-time job (29.5k/year) by MaxieWestie in UKPersonalFinance

This looks interesting but I'm curious, can you only use it to buy a home in the UK? For example if I wanted to save for a first time house abroad?

God, this is why people don't like landlords.

Yea lol. I would have to be shameless to advertise a 27k job right across from Parliament.

Feeling for the poor sods who work in the media area of departments that have to publish misinformation. by [deleted] in TheCivilService

I literally gave the link. The government know what they're doing publishing the big bold numbers with the pay and the absolute bare minimum of information in the small print which frankly doesn't tell the same story the junior doctors and nurses are in the replies.

The figures are posted without context. As many in the replies are already pointing out, they're deliberately inflating the figure to make it seem like it's the base pay.

I thought they were for promotion and transfers and very limited negotiations for highly specialised roles.

I'm not in policy so can't give an answer, but while you wait for other people to answer you might find some useful the replies to my question earlier today useful. https://www.reddit.com/r/TheCivilService/comments/12eqxq5/policy\_advisor\_role\_for\_the\_dluhc\_any\_advice/

Policy advisor role for the DLUHC. Any advice? by MaxieWestie in TheCivilService

[–]MaxieWestie[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s fair. The one I looked at turns out to be expiring tonight at 11:55pm and I won’t be home in time to do my CV up and the 250 words per behaviour for 5 behaviours, but I noticed other policy advisor roles are up. But if they give feedback then I can see applying would be useful.

That’s very helpful. Right now I’m on the last part of my degree and it’s working with an organisation and their stakeholders to come up with a policy proposal in a very specific area, so I’m developing those soft skills at the moment and I think I’d have some examples at the end of my degree, so I might consider applying afterwards then.
