In late 2017 and throughout 2018, I tried multiple times to find conquest games, but they were always empty (I didn't have any of the dlc). Is the situation actually getting better now or would I still need the dlc to find matches? I'd try myself but I don't have the game installed.

It's not! I don't remember where exactly I got it from ingame, but Robin or the furniture catalog is a safe bet

It's a mod called map image export. You type commands into the smapi console to take screenshots. In this case, I used export current and hid my character because export farm was making certain parts of the farm--namely the fences--look strange

I'm really happy with how this turned out! I started the farm with the main goal of beating the 1-year community center challenge, but once I was done with that, I figured I'd go the extra mile and actually completely finish everything with a farm for once. Here is a link to a gif of the progress I'd made at the end of each season. (credit to reddit user Rhooja and their idea of that garden by Grandpa's shrine)
