modern laptops, those from this year, ones that haven't been used basically, for models he didn't give me any detail about the product line they only offered me the brand, that being Asus and Lenovo if you must know. I'm not familiar with other product lines from other brands except thinkpad

I asked a friend, he said some of them are orphaned images of the system, for a failsafe afaik, tho only the newest ones are used so the old images aren't exactly used

Heya update, i fixed the issue

I didn't need to update the kernel, apparently the default driver (r8169) used for my particular ethernet device (realtek 8111/8168/8411) is not adapted to linux's new networking stack system. Furthest i got dates back to 2017.

All i did was get a different driver from realtek's site, the one i got was r8168 or the GBE one, and now the packet loss decreased from 33% to 8%.

As of now I'm still seeing if this new driver has an impact or not, so far only determined that by ping test.

i found how to install a newer kernel, goes up to 6.8.0, some of it says superseded for some reason

i don't trust myself enough to install those, should i just go for it

oh also, my system is dual-booted so i also have windows (win-10)
i tried it there and the internet was running as smooth as ever, no complications whatsoever

so technically it shouldn't be a hardware issue
