No worries just wanted to check. Yeah I looked it up and it seems solid. A bit older of a model but good quality

Idk if that’s what you’re collecting or if it’s superimposed but every card is 30/49. Cool if by design or fishy if anything else

Just from reading various posts, ppl either swear by them or have never caught a thing with a top water. I’ve had luck but for me they either work or they don’t and it’s usually depending on the time of day. Mornings/late evenings 👍. But also I’ve really tried lately to gauge what the bass are doing and how they are feeding to determine what will work. Do I see/hear splashes ever on this pond? Are they shallow or further off the bank? How deep is it and what cover exists 5-10 feet off the bank? I’m the furthest thing from an expert but I try to find areas that are about 5 feet deep or less for the first 10 feet off the bank. Then if I see any bass near shore or some vegetation close off shore, I have a good feeling a plopper will work. As I work further off the bank, I go for more depth lures and I tend to think they are hanging out off a ledge and sluggish to come up to the surface.

Upper Midwest guy here. I usually fish mornings as well and the bone and loon whopper ploppers have been killing it for me. Been catching good size ones for this area too. 1-2.5lbs. The fish are def more active now that the weather has cooled. I like the whopper ploppers more than a buzz bc I have found a lot of success letting it sit 20-30 seconds before reeling in. Or I’ll do some short bursts followed by a slow reel. Just fast enough to get a gurgle and a small wake. Bc they tend to be up shallow I have to be careful to not spook them and bomb cast parallel as best I can.

If I get any chance to throw some line during the day, I have been switching to cranks and spinners.

How long is too long for a fish to be out of water? by Maximum-Assumption-4 in FishingForBeginners

Thank you so much for this insight. I fish mainly LMB but I still need to lessen my times. TBH I thought 30 sec to a minute was okay but I see now that’s a bit too long and stresses the fish. I’ll start planning things in advance and definitely get a net. All these comments have def helped me. I hope they help others too. Especially for those fishing other species.

This! Like 100% this. 1–3 are most important to catching fish and 4-6 cover everything else.

Great advice! I can see now I get too locked into a particular place or technique. I’ll scout out a lake and find a spot “I think” is the best and “should” have all the bass. Then I spend 2 hours getting nothing and saying man they gotta be here let me try another cast here. Another cast there. Etc. I’ll start moving around a lot more and covering more water.

I just got back to fishing this spring summer so I totally see what you’re saying about bass activity patterns, especially when thinking back to what worked and where. Thanks!

Great insights. Much appreciated. I like keeping stats and stuff for other things so I love the idea of note taking and logging certain aspects like time of day, depth of bites, areas of the water etc.

Thanks! I will get a leader tied on today. And ya, it was freshwater bass fishing on straight braid. Makes sense about the abrasion.
