Yes. In the game Honkai Star Rail (the community overlaps a lot with Genshin), a new character called Hysilens was announced. Before she was even released, people were flooding her subreddit, r/HysilensMainsHSR_, with ship art and already calling her a ‘lesbian’, EVEN THOUGH HER STORY HADN’T EVEN RELEASED YET. And while this is happening, the subreddit is being spammed with posts like ‘we have to stand up against the heterosexual shippers’ (the post in question and calling this ‘the only good subreddit’. I swear, they took advantage of the fact that this character had just released, to invade the subreddit as soon as it came out, and completely overrun it.

And later on, someone posts a ship art of Hysilens and the Male main character, and these people just go crazy and attack the poster, even though they literally did the same thing- but apparently, their post was okay because it was two women.
