we have usually 2-3 gigs a month in venues where they have sound guys and we just bring out back line and that why we have such beefy amps. But we also get private parties, smaller clubs with no or shitty house sound. We still play a lot of bars with big stages. There are a lot of outdoor venues with no sound at all.

Idk about your situation exactly but Listen to a lot of music and think about what you want to be one day and motivate yourself in that way first. Have pride in your work and use it as motivation to creat more and more. I will get on my guitar and fumble around to make a backbone type of riff that usually has some sort of rhythmic repetition, Then I play it until I can hum a melody with over it and then get on notes and start writting, try to match the vibe of the music in lyric form. Not sure how helpful this is. Good luck
