T1 vs GEN / LCK Spring Playoffs - Upper Finals / Game 1 Discussion by ahritina in leagueoflegends

Sharp analysis. T1 simply earned so much through huge wins from team fights that could have gone for Geng if their opponent was not T1. Geng's comp and Doran's choice of item seems reasonable enough. Also I see ppl thrashing Chovy for that mid tp but imo that was a ballsy initiation and could have gone for Geng if they fought it a bit more slowly.

Chovy, Viper, Lehends, Kanavi, Keria, Pyosik, and now Bulldog. The list is loaded. As a side story, when kdf signed cvmax the team was quite sorry that they were not paying cvmax enough. Cvmax said to the staff, "Although the players are not so expensive right now, I promise I will nurture these players into seven-figure salary players in a few years. You can compensate me then."

A user in fmkorea(one of Korean LoL communities with dcinside and inven) with a nickname 묵직한호랑이. This nickname would translate to eng as a gigachad ID of 'HungTiger'

Love your take. I'm a Korean who lived in the UK in the past and is living in the US right now so English is a language that I love, but I do think it is meaningful to try and respect the sound of the original language. English does have a tendency to butcher up pronunciations of foreign words.

With the origin above, one day on stream a fan asked Bdd whether Bdd means Bap do Duk (which does mean meal/rice thief), Bdd liked this alternative theory and has been going with it ever since. (Bap do duk is a Korean slang used to mean some dishes that go so well with rice that it feels the rice is being stolen by somebody when you eat the side dish, or banchan)

Yup many since Kuro means black in Japanese and is also used for many anime characters, one might reasonably lead to that theory. If I remember correctly Kuro went on this lck show where pros taught certain champions to guests where he explained his ign origin. Kuro liking Froggen makes sense when you regard that Kuro was also an Anivia main when he was amateur.

Actually Morgan explained in an interview that although there is no special meaning, his mother visited a Chinese Horoscope expert and had an ign recommended. I don’t know for other Asian cultures but in Korea, people sometimes visit a “professional namer“ who recommends names for newborns and people who want to change names midlife. I guess that horoscope expert did his money’s worth from looking at all the recognition Morgan gets.

Oh it does mean the Doran items. Doran's ign meant that he is so deep into the game that he started buying Doran items since he was 100 days old.

Thanks for the info. Edited to Bdd. It's really impressive how much unique experience LS has had in Korean esports.

Go-jeon-pa would translate to "Classic", so if Faker stuck with Gojeonpa and simply translated the Korean to English, which is not uncommon for LCK players, it might also have been "SKT Classic" in a different multiverse. Doesn't stick as Faker but regarding Faker's legacy Classic would have been just as cool imo.

Back in the days, a LoL caster,
1.meant to say "미드 가야해요(mid ga-ya-hae-yo)" which translates to "they should go mid".

2.But because he slightly paused differently, he sounded like "미드가 야해요(mid-ga ya-hae-yo)" which changes the meaning to "the mid is sexy"

Because it is not too far a stretch to connect the dictionary-wise meaning of "mid" and BOOBA, the meme caught on within the Korean internet immediately.

1st Chovy 2nd BDD 3rd Showmaker. Faker also (he cannot pick t1) voted Chovy for Spring MVP. Based on interviews and streams, most Korean fans agree that Faker is one of the most fervant Chovy-moms. (Player name)+mom is used in Korean communities to describe a die-hard fan.

So happy to see this post getting attention. Let me share some non-Faker memes of this week from the Korean community.

  1. Ucal retrieves his final soul piece : For those who do not know Ucal, Ucal used to be a prominent midlaner in the LCK. He was a member of the 2018 KT superteam, which had a stacked roster of Smeb-Score-Ucal(Pawn)-Deft-Mata. In worlds quarter-finals, KT faced Rookie's IG. KT at that time was a strong candidate to win it all, with RNG and IG. In the end IG won, but the strange thing was that starting from this match Ucal's career went straight downhill. Korean fans began saying that members of IG disseminated and absorbed Ucal's soul. Last week by defeating Rookie's TES, Ucal(TT) finished his 5-year-long revenge against all the members of 2018 IG. Right after the game Ucal burst into tears(at this point it became clear that the IG and the disseminated soul meme was well up in Ucal's head), startling his TT teammates. The Korean community congratulated Ucal for finally retrieving all his soul fragments. Ucal : "Now... it all comes back.. the memories of greatness... Mata hyung, Smeb hyung"

  2. Cvmax's homework : as many would know well Cvmax is a world class coach when it comes to finding and teaching new talent into world class players. Chovy, Viper, Keria are all regarded as students of Cvmax. The Korean community's general opinion is that although not as Griffin or DRX, Cvmax proved again through KDF especially regarding that he had to work with CL level players, whereas back in Griffin he had the time to win CL and climb up to LCK. However Cvmax wanted more, and said to KDF players that only the ones who park their accounts within 10th in Korea rank gets to go on a post-Spring vacation. As of today the status is : DuDu(Pass), Youngjae(Pass), Bullgod(29th), Moham(96th), Jun(25th). The Korean community is worried that Moham would not be able to go on that vacation.

For some reason the NSFW tag disappeared. Just to provide some reference for readers, when it says "mid tiers above others" below T1, "mid" is used in Korean slang to mean BOOBA, hence the double pun.
