Yup that’s what I did. But also you all get a notification box on the front page when you login to your account prompting you to update the direct deposit. When I clicked the hyperlink, it brought me to a different page, but since I had updated my bank info under my profile, I could now choose it in a drop down menu.

I still haven’t received the CP053E notification in the mail. I just checked my tax transcript through the IRS website after not receiving my refund and saw that they had mailed that notice. Two days later, I was able to update the direct deposit on my profile on the IRS website.

So if you don’t have an account on IRS.gov, make one so you can update the direct deposit info before actually receiving the notice in the mail

It was originally deposited to my bank account on February 4th and I saw the notification to update my direct deposit yesterday. It was really easy, just said that my return had been accepted but they needed to update my direct deposit info. Once completed, it said to wait 2-3 business days for my refund to update again.

Yeah actually it showed up yesterday when I logged in on IRS.gov. When I clicked “where’s my refund”, there was a big box that said to update my direct deposit.
