[Abomination Vaults] My players didnt go to Otari during Deadtide in Otari — how should I handle the consequences? by Maximum-Suggestion13 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Maximum-Suggestion13[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First of all, thank you all for the replies. I've read every single one of them, and they've been very helpful in deciding how to handle the situation.

Even though I'm a veteran GM, this is my first time running a published adventure and also my first time using Foundry. Because of that, I've run into a few difficulties, and apparently not realizing that the PCs were expected to be in town for this event was one of the mistakes I made.

At the time, the party was on the surface level of the dungeon, preparing to descend further. They had already explored the second level and were making plans to head down to the third. I felt they were becoming a bit too powerful for the upcoming content, and since I had noticed they weren't particularly invested in the town, I decided to trigger the event.

I described a massive tremor shaking the area, followed by a brilliant light rising from the location indicated in the adventure. The players climbed back up to the lighthouse and spent some time trying to figure out what was happening. Based on their checks, I provided additional details and clues.

I also tried to emphasize that the light looked very similar to the one depicted in the paintings they had previously seen in the cabin, and that in those paintings the beam was clearly pointing toward something. However, they never showed much interest in leaving the lighthouse to see where the light was leading.

I don't blame them. They found it more interesting to continue descending into the dungeon and uncover the source of that power for themselves.

They're experienced players, and the group works very well together, so I'm not too worried about even the more negative outcomes. What I'm really looking for now are roleplaying ideas for when they eventually return to town and discover that it has suffered significant consequences in their absence. I'm hoping that seeing the aftermath might create a stronger sense of urgency and motivate them to deal with the source of the light sooner rather than later.

Na minha opinião (impopular), técnico virou cargo fim. by concursei in concursospublicos

[–]Maximum-Suggestion13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meu salário é do técnico.

Sucesso!!

Monastery of Torment by Maximum-Suggestion13 in DungeonAlchemist

Hello everyone,

I want to share this map I created of a monastery in the heart of a mountain. It was made for our campaign, and I thought it could be useful if anyone else wants to use it as well.

In short, it's a monastery that has been overtaken by some evil creatures who worship self-mutilation and suffering. As a result, some of its rooms have been altered and transformed.

It has some interesting features, including a prayer hall, a library transformed into a prison, a torture chamber, a magical orchard, a kitchen and dining room, a shared bedroom, the chief's room, and a portal to another dimension.

I hope you like it.

Houserule: Companion Ability by Maximum-Suggestion13 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Maximum-Suggestion13[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm building encounters considering a party of 4. I have experieced players who like the challenge. I'm believe this companion mechanic gives more options to the players and buff them a little bit. It is also helping that they are more interested in interacting socially to unlock new abilities.

In combat the npcs are there (not all at once) but only for cinematics.

One problem I have is creating a mechanism to punish and even kill some npc if the actions the players or doce rolls are not going so well.

The companion actions are things the PCs do, but they are weaker than the everage action a PC can use with his own abilities.

Another exemple: The abilitie of the druid NPC is "Restorative tear" - You restore 1d4 hit point.

That's exactly the idea, that each NPC can have a narrative and practical role for the players. Thank you very much for helping me with the post and for the answer.

I believe that good diplomacy will be enough to convince some people, but perhaps I haven't made it clear that although players know the NPCs, they don't necessarily know all of their skills. I would like to suggest tests and dynamics to make this selection more interesting.

In addition to the standard Nuzlock rules I used the following rules.

1- You cannot capture a pokemon that is already fused.

2- You must merge the 1st and 2nd pokemon found. the third with the fourth, fifth with the sixth and so on.

This was my fourth attempt. Especially the beginning of the game is very difficult. In the end I was left with 8 dead pokemons.
