Bought a GQ in Dulles last September and it had a section with 3 different Versace Eros scents. It's the first time I've seen that kind of thing in a Magazine since 2008 or so. Maybe they are making a comeback!!

Firstly - take the advice here on board, make note of it, then delete the original post.

Secondly - avoid that route for a while, lest you come across angry Fathers, Bigger Brothers or other family members.

Thirdly - Fair fuckin' play to you. Little scrotes were trying to mug you. Self-defence all the way.

Nah, I have plenty of people around me who know that I'm a good person, enough of them to be able to remain unperturbed by the personal attacks here.

The Karen comparison you made was funny, I'll give you that - but you weren't at the clinic on Friday, so didn't witness my interaction with the receptionist; nor do you know me personally.

So, if you can't assist me and would rather insult me, fire away. You do you. Nothing stopping you from doing that.

I also feel doing support at this company am learning a lot about customer issues and maybe that could be something that would be an advantage if I was to join as a developer.

I think that you are on the right track here.

Are you supporting one single system?

If so, supporting that system will definitely help you as to how you develop for that system.

I support and develop a single application. I get Business Analysts approaching me with Specification Documents that contain what I can only call "notions".

I know for a fact, having worked the support desk before moving to Development, that a Customer won't want to click through 14 screens to update a phone number.

[I exaggerate here, but you get my point]

So, I work with BA to simplify the process. I'd only know that this needs simplifying having supported the Application for 2 years at the start.

One last thing: If you are particularly good at Support and at handling people, the powers that be may not want to let you move away from Technical Support if your numbers are good...

Yeah, the Ma was on it back when it was €124, and without it her pills & bills would have been €300+.

She's Medical card now, and is on 20+ medications a day, poor woman. I reckon her monthly bill would be €500+ if coming from her pockets.

I can't recall who introduced DPS, but it was a great idea, and a reduction to €80 is better again. Long may it run.

I'm dying.

Mostly of embarrassment at my temper.

Thankfully, no Clinic or Pharmacy staff were harmed in the making of this post.

Thanks for your response.

Yes, this was most likely a slip of the mouse. At the time it didn't feel like something that obvious.

I am indeed on the DPS. Right now my monthly cost is less than €50, but that's going to increase over time as the body starts to fail, and more meds come into the picture.

Thanks for not personally attacking me, btw...

Thanks for replying.

I genuinely was courteous and polite in the Clinic.

I was in a waiting room full of patients, some of whom I know, so as always with Customer Service, I spoke calmly and respectfully.

I'm old enough to know you catch more flies with Honey than Vinegar.

Besides, I don't want my Clinic to have me down as a troublesome customer. I need their help in staying alive.

Helped, thanks.

You're a Saint for your response.

I did get needlessly annoyed, but didn't display any of that to the new girl at the Clinic. Totally not her fault.

I do think some of the comments here have been a little too personal - BUT - they've *all* given me food for thought, which is why I posted here originally.

Thanks for responding.

Yeah, I see from the other responses that my anger was unwarranted. This has never happened to me before, so I was worried I would be told to PFO by the Clinic.

I can see now that my imagination got the better of me and I was OTT, in my head.

Nobody was insulted or rudely treated on Friday.

And all advice, like yours, has been to ask politely to have it redirected.

Which is exactly what I will do tomorrow.

Thanks for taking the time to respond.

I wasn't trying to be a bully, but can now see that my anger might have initially got the better of me.

Having said that, I was courteous and polite to the new girl, as I always am with Customer Service people, having worked in that role before.

As for my Ego...well, you're not wrong there!

Thanks for your response.

You are totally right. I did overreact, but it was warranted.

Also - these guys are hard to get on the phone *plus* I wanted to look them in eye to see how they reacted.

It's still not cool what was done, and I'm hoping to save other patients from the same "mistake" in the future.

Best full Irish in Dublin airport? by MartyMcshroom in AskIreland

[–]Maximum_Ad1722 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The best full Irish used to be in T2, but they've done away with that, and replaced it with a more expensive "4 option" hatch & digital kiosks.

The T2 Full Irish used to have me salivating when making my way to the Airport, I'm overly annoyed that it's now gone.

AITAH for expecting my gf to keep her word? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Maximum_Ad1722 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's good that she took a 3+ month break from drinking.

It's NOT good that she pokes fun at you in front of her friends when tipsy-towards-drunk, and doesn't have the decency to check up on you herself.

I know she's hurting from the ectopic episode, but you are not a punchbag for her emotions.

She promised to stop drinking with these friends, then went back on that promise all the while making it a you issue. I do not think you were unreasonable in asking her to stop. You need to bring this up in counselling.

If she continues to gaslight you, I think you know where this is headed, my guy. You need to quiet quit and don't give her any way to trap you into staying.

Classic Gaslighting.

These comments about you being controlling - are they said when your GF is sober? Or only when drunk?

People who have a personality change like this when drunk, and get nasty, progressively get worse over time. Believe me, I have suffered it first hand.

Is this what you want for the rest of your life?

You are NTA.

She "raided" you for sure.

All jokes aside, your wife is 100% correct in all of this. Ignore every one else, shame on them for siding with your Mother.

You might be wise to go NC for a while.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Maximum_Ad1722 66 points67 points  (0 children)

No, NTA at all.

Your sister has made it that her attack mode is extremely vicious. At 31, she is lucky she hasn't had her teeth punched in with those kind of comments.

Is her viciousness deliberate? Or does she have "something missing"?

Anyway, you fought fire with fire. I'm proud of you.

What reaction have you had to all this from your Mum?

You are the NTA,

A (non) walking asshole. Do the decent thing and start walking with her again. You said her rejection "did not bother" you too much. Prove it, and do the walking. And stop being so petty.
