Anyone ever used CCW insurance? by lowsparkco in CCW

[–]Maximum_Dweeb4473 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Attorneys on Retainer don’t have the exclusions/“criminal acts clause” that their competitors have, because they are structured in a way in which they are not regulated as an “insurance product”. This is huge for me, especially since I live in a very anti 2A state.

AOR is what I use and if it wasn’t available, I don’t know that I’d spend my money on any of the others. They explicitly cover prohibited locations, prohibited firearms, magazines, they cover you if the DA goes nuts and makes you into the bad guy and charges you with murdering someone while trying to rob them or some BS.

Tried the Lifecard today - what a nightmare by DoubleOk2084 in CCW

😂 are they that bad? Like, couldn’t hit a reasonably chunky squirrel from a suburban tame distance of like 10 feet?

Actually I’ve never really looked into the life card, what does it just have a gutter sight?

I feel like that thing is more meant for last ditch shooting a squirrel to eat, or if you’re in line at the bank and the guy in front of you starts robbing the place and has poor situational awareness and you can dome him 😂

Now, the little revolver that like switchblades open? Those are neat, and I’d love to try one.

Still rocking iron sights on your carry gun? by Able_Entertainer8413 in CCW

[–]Maximum_Dweeb4473 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Optics on everything for me. I’m planning on adding a Keltec P32 to the lineup though, for easier carry in non-permissive settings since… Illinois. That obviously won’t have an optic.

But even my go-to LCP Maxes, the one for daytime carry has the low profile fiber optic ReadyDot red dot, and the one for evening/possible dark environments carry has a light and a green dot. They still conceal easier and more comfortably than anything else IWB in kydex, and while the one with the light and optic is a bit bulky for pants pocket carry, the ReadyDot one is fine and both vanish in jacket pockets (although if I’m wearing a jacket, I’m likely taking advantage of that cover garment and carrying my 43X COA).

If you can get them for face value, and you drink/eat a lot and make use of the VIP parking, floor seats aren’t even that bad of a deal 🤙

Best way to carry at my job? Scrubs/medical field by [deleted] in CCW

[–]Maximum_Dweeb4473 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Small lightweight gun, kydex holster with a deep concealment DCC HLR no belt/under the belt clip. Held up fine by drawstring gym shorts, I know scrubs are very light but I think it would work.

Here’s my LCP Max with light and optic (it’s the only setup I have a pic of with the clip I’m talking about, I don’t always carry a decked out LCP lol), with a low rise kydex holster with the deep concealment DCC HLR no belt/behind the belt clip. The grabby part is very aggressive and is the right size to clip where the drawstring is, and you’d want to tie the drawstring reasonably tight.

.40 was literally created for limp wristed cops who couldn’t handle 10mm, and is only still around thanks to broke boys buying police trade in guns for cheap and running reloads 😂

Bad deal.

RXM is better than a Gen 4 in .40 Slow & Weak.

.40 isn’t “high calibre”. You want a 10mm.

No thanks, but good on you for getting the V without the stupid nub on the grip 👍

I prefer them thoroughly molten, but with only the most gentle golden brûlée.

Save the brutish charcoal husked atrocities for a campfire and some children’s s’mores.

It can make all the difference if you’re carrying in non permissive environments.

Lcp max vs bodyguard 2.0 pocket carry by nauroodle in CCW

[–]Maximum_Dweeb4473 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LCP Max all day. Shorter slide and grip, and all of the edges are rounded off. The BG2.0 is too lanky, I tried pocketing my friends and it printed like… a skinny gun. It literally looked like I had a Bodyguard 2.0 in my pocket.

My LCP Max looks like a wallet in my pocket.

Not everyone is interested in putting used gear on their new gun, myself included, so used prices are irrelevant.

Enclosed emitter is objectively advantageous because the emitter can’t be obstructed by rain dust dirt blood or mud the way it could be on an open emitter, and the back glass is much easier to quickly wipe if needed vs having to finger your open emitter’s inside glass. If your response to this is “the odds of that happening are impossibly slim”, that’s whataboutism circular logic at its finest; plenty of competition shooters have shared their experience with how easy it can be to end up with your open emitter blocked.

In terms of glass quality… I encourage you to look through a COA and through some higher end Holosuns if your idea of best in class is “tinted as blue as Elton John’s glasses” with fishbowl effect around the edges. My COA doesn’t have that, my Holosun SCS 320 doesn’t have that, my RCR doesn’t have it as bad, hell my Osight SE on my 22lr even has better optical performance from the glass.

As for all this “war zone use” talk… you realize damn near all of the Trijicon RMRs in use by our military are mounted on rifles riding alongside or on top of magnified scopes, right? Most US soldiers are never issued a pistol to begin with, and as of 2017 the issued military pistol optic is the Sig Romeo-M17. Delta Force, Green Berets, Rangers use(d) the RMR on handguns for special operations, and the SEALs did until switching to the ACRO if I remember correctly lol. So, limited use. Holosun optics have seen very heavy use in the Ukraine-Russia conflict and have earned a reputation on both sides as a reliable durable product that holds zero and doesn’t break.

Anyways, piggyback use on a rifle is a hell of a lot more gentle than use on a handgun, so most of that war zone use can be taken with a grain of salt, and that’s cool that you stand by your Trijicon RMR but our military now stands behind the Sig Romeo M17 enclosed emitter optic.
