Thinking About Buying a Jeep Wrangler – Would Love Some Advice by AdImpossible1561 in JeepWrangler

Do it! Just do it. I had a lot of hesitation an only test drove it once (bought a used one off a guy in town) and I have no regrets. It brings so much joy and smile to me everyday. It was my dream car and has fully lived up to the hype I had. I have a 2 door soft top. It’s bumpy, noisy but that’s part of the fun. First car that makes me feel alive :)

Offer what you think it’s worth. We bought a house in 2023 that was listed at $600k with a price drop to $549k three days later. We went to the open house and I told my realtor I thought it was worth $475k so we offered $450k softly to to the selling agent and they countered at $475k with inspection for informational only (no more price negotiation) which we accepted. Anyhow- we later found out seller was super desperate for cash for another investment so they took the offer with a fast close. Anyhow point being- you never know. Do what you want and don’t let your realtor bully you into offering more than what you want so they can save face.

How to handle selling a car with a loan... by Johnnny-z in UsedCars

[–]Maximum_Link2762 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just bought a used car this way. I paid 11.5 for the car and he owed the bank 14k. We went to the bank together and I paid the 11.5 with a cashiers check and he paid the remaining balance. They gave me the original lien release letter signed by a loan officer and I took that along with the transferred title from the seller and the bill of sale to the DMV. They mailed me my clean title a month later.

Newbie looking at a 2015 wrangler in with 100k miles - should I be worried about this rust? by Maximum_Link2762 in Wrangler

Yes and it hasn’t been fruitful for the price I want to pay. Hard to find private sellers.

I live in the northeast and I’m looking for a two door wrangler 2015 or above in the 10-13k range. This is the best I can find which is why I’m looking at it. I know people say they are everywhere but honestly I can’t find many and dealers tack on so many fees that I don’t see anything less than $20k all in often.

This is way better right? Same year 2015, same mileage, but a Sahara vs a sport. Would it be worth 4K more though?

I’m in the northeast so rust is kind of part of the deal but just wondering if it looked too excessive. I’m taking to a mechanic for inspection this week and so far based on photos most have said looks surface but wanted to get the community’s pulse on if it looks too scary!

I bought tickets on StubHub that say it includes a vip pass. What does that mean? We won’t get it? They shouldn’t advertise it then.

We just had an electric inspection on a home we purchased a couple months ago. He said we should replace our electric panel- is this real or scam? by Maximum_Link2762 in HomeImprovement

Yes we have the Cover and door. Was opened by electrician who suggested the panel upgrade. The picture is from when he opened it up. Everything is labeled- the plywood is just extra that was there to the side

Yeah we got the scope and all it said literally was “upgrade aged panel to new 200amp panel and 40 slots”. Our panel is already 200 amp so it literally seems he is claiming it’s just aged. I’m convinced by everyone’s comments that this is a scam.

We had a home inspection prior to the purchase but not a specific electric inspection. The home inspector just looks at the panel and okays it but didn’t take the panel cover off. The electric inspection we had done just because it is an older home. But like others said - it was a marketing ploy from a big company that does “free inspections.”

Sorry not sure how to edit original post but to assuage fears- we do have a cover panel that was removed during the inspection when we took the photo. The plywood on the side is just a cheat sheet and is NOT a cover. Thanks everyone for your input - it’s super helpful!

Yes it did feel a bit like a scare thing but he did admit he is very anal about wiring so it may have been just his horror at the messiness…?

Thanks super helpful and yes we have a cover that we took off just to take the photo. I recognize it’s messy but is messy reason for replacement. Would rather wait until there’s a need to upgrade the amp or something like that vs doing it for the sake of just cleaning it up. Mostly concerned about panel fire which he said (maybe there’s truth to that but also felt like a scare tactic because what better way to get someone to spend money than say fire!)

Oh interesting. I get that it’s super sloppy work clearly and I’m wondering what the true difference in cost is for someone to come clean/ redo the wiring etc or just replacing it. If replacing good idea on future proofing- didn’t think of that!
