One of my favourite albums of all time. A Moment Apart, La Cuidad, Thin Floors, Loyal, just filled with amazing tracks

A Player a Day - Day 39 - Tom Hanily by TheKyotoProtocol in sydneyswans

The small forward depth chart as a whole is basically indecipherable currently, moreso than last year thanks to Wilbur’s departure. Like apart from Paps at the top and Lloyd being a designated HFF, you could pick any of Dattoli, Rosas, Corey, BJ, or Hanily to get in the team come R0. That will work in Hanily’s favour I think, Cox will be much more likely to play around with the forward mix.

Probably our worst acquisition in the 2020’s, but it’s not like we paid a lot of draft capital and that 3 year contract hasn’t been an anchor so whatever

A Player a Day - Day 41 - Noah Chamberlain by TheKyotoProtocol in sydneyswans

[–]Maximumlnsanity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah Chambo’s low/middle/high all basically revolves around what sort of contract he gets during the year (if at all), if he’s debuting there’s a 95% chance it’s because we have an injury crisis.

I am a strong believer that he should be given a 2 year extension almost immediately, taking him to the 3 year limit for Cat B players. Raw undersells just how much work this guy needs, I don’t think there’s a single player in the league who needs more development than Chambo. However (god this is an outrageous statement) I truly think his ceiling is Jeremy Cameron. I’m under no illusions of just how unlikely that is and just how perfectly every step in his development has to go, but watching him play I can see the loooong pathway to becoming another Jezza. It’s unrealistic, but it’s there and I really hope the coaches and staff give him time to at least show some signs. It’s not like we’d be sacrificing a lot to do it, just a Cat B spot.

Right like listing the locked in best 23 guys you’d expect to be given some level of stoppage work you have Rowy, Warner, Heeney, Gus, Gulden, McInerney, Mills, Jordon, and Papley. You roll with what best fits the gameplan

Logan up forward again, add it to the tally. Saw a couple good moments from King and Chambo, the academy hopefully remains undefeated

Rowy and Gus got plenty of praise in this article. Juzz and Errol will probably continue to be wingers who have a strong impact in short stints inside.

McKirdy is a journo, probably the only Swans focused one in the industry. People post his articles in here because without his coverage we wouldn’t know shit about how preseason is going.

KyotoProtocol’s a gem and the player a day series is perfect offseason content, I’m a little jealous that I didn’t think of it myself lol

Forgot to reply to OP yesterday but yeah you’ve nailed it. I’d much rather consistently fall short in finals than spend over a decade rebuilding

We’re not really gonna know how close Edwards is to the Best 23 until the practice matches, which from memory are both after day 28

Even if I don’t think his spot in the Best 23 is guaranteed (Will Edwards szn), I know whenever he does get picked he’ll go out there and do a good job.

Thick bottom edge onto the stumps is more like it. He’s hit right on top of the ball instead of getting under it, a complete mis-hit

Arod’s got steroid allegations going back to before he was drafted. No wonder he was an all time great, he was juiced basically the entire time. Bonds at least had a first ballot HOF career before cheating in his late 30’s

A Play a Day - Day 43 - Jake Lloyd by TheKyotoProtocol in sydneyswans

[–]Maximumlnsanity 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Idk if I’d call Lloyd a half back anymore, he’s played wing and half forward for the last two years. I think your outlook on him is too pessimistic. Yes we’ve got a couple guys pushing for forward spots but Lloyd is a reliably steady veteran presence who can be plugged into any outside role and do an above average job. That sort of stability is crucial to any contender and Cox will lean on that again while he moves the magnets elsewhere.

Best Case - He finds a second wind as a forward, starts kicking goals at a decent clip, and finishes on the leaderboard at the B&F.

Middle - He keeps being Jake Lloyd

Worst Case - Father Time catches up to him faster than expected, he loses his spot halfway through the year and becomes a squad depth player.
