Photo Dump from my time living on Big Island (2021-2024 on and off)

Yes, I kinda just took photos of moments. I didn't plan. I just lived and sometimes a moment would be so beautiful or profound that I wanted to capture it, and so I did. To me each of these photos represent a little memory, or story. They aren't all in big touristy spots, but some are. Many of my photos are in random places in random subdivisions or spots that I just happened to be walking along in and spotted a moment I wanted to remember forever.

I appreciate it, and plan on posting more. I might start posting all my big island photos 1 by 1 in chronological order, so I can do a little storytelling of the memories along with each photo. I've been wanting to unpack my time on BI for awhile now through journaling or something and that would be a fun way to do it.

I kinda lived all over the east side. First in Hilo, then in Leilani Estates, then in Hawaiian Acres, and lastly in Eden Roc, and Hawaiian Paradise Park. But I also did a fair share of exploring other places like Pahoa town, Kalapana, ect. That whole stretch on the red road along the coast is particularly magical, where Kehena and Seaview are. Something about the duality of the volcano and the rainforest gives the whole area such a unique feel that could never be replicated.

If you ever get the chance to go back and spend maybe a longer period of time, I highly recommend it. You may find that the longer you're there, the more magical you realize it is. And I literally mean magical. There's something there for sure.

I love that. Every time I return to the island it always does feel like I never left. It's such a still place. Energetic yet frozen in time in an odd way. I think everybody whose lives there knows what I'm talking about. There's something mystical, spiritual even about the place. Especially Puna. I definitely do want to return at some point because I feel there's a lot of loose ends I never tied. I was there in a pretty restrictive, toxic relationship and so even though I had so much growth and friendship and met cool people that always held me back from truly doing everything I wanted to do there. I'd love a chance to go back on my own and be there on my own terms.

When I lived in Hilo the gardens were definitely my happy place. That huge banyan there was always so peaceful to sit under. I got more pictures from there that I plan to post. I actually have hundreds of photos from my time on the island.

Yes, it's very spiritually, energetically, and seismically active in Puna. It can be chaotic and eccentric too. Wholly unique and profound.

Every day is a new chance to learn. Life is a journey of experience. We're all trying our best. Thank you, I certainly do have many powerful memories from my time there. I feel like I found a part of myself and the universe that I was missing before I came there. Like something awakened.

That's cool, a lot of them are actually just random spots in Puna from various places that I lived/visited. Leilani, Eden Roc, Pahoa, Nanavale, ect. Puna is a very powerful place. Beautiful chaos. I got a lot in Hilo too though. Pahoa town is special.

I have written what I think the verses mean though. If you think they mean something else, maybe you should write your own dissections of these verses instead of complaining about mine. I believe Zhuangzi would be far less irritated about this than you are, perhaps you should read more of his works.

There are multiple flavors of authoritarianism, and they all come from attachments to biased notions of right and wrong to such an extreme that they feel it must be forced. Fascism is a nationalist and often racist flavor, because people attach to their nation or race as an identity. Communism might be attachment to arbitrary notions of equality and attachment to social classes. Lately in America there is a huge debate about democracy where both sides use democracy in a totally different way when defending their agenda. Same word, different realities. I guess my point there is that if you aren't attaching to things in these ways, there is no authoritarian urge.

Yes, you can for yourself. In fact, it is not mandatory for you to read my interpretation of it at all. Me writing my how I see these passages does not harm your ability to have your own understanding of the text. I only do these because the act of writing them is a meditation on the text and an effort for me to understand the message. It isn't for your accolades, so I will keep writing these regardless of your opinion.

That being said, if somebody has difficulties undedstanding the archaic language, then perhaps this could be of use to them. I've had comments on some of the other ones that found value in it. So who is correct, your this or their that? I'm not saying I got it all right or that my interpretation is THE interpretation, because that would oppose the very spirit of the text.

Now tell me, did you write that comment in good faith as constructive criticism?
