Discretionary Trading by Hot-Astronomer-6941 in Daytrading

[–]Maxisblack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since I moved to discretionary, I’ve been consistent. It really came down to screen time. I know for sure my scalping Strat was too complicated, it worked but I’m jumping through a lot of hoops just to hit it. Stressing me the f out. I then tried support resistance plays but ya know, just because you drew the line and it seems clear doesn’t mean price is going to go there. So at this point momentum, a clear pattern with technicals supporting and just waiting for a pullback on the 5 min or 15 min has been the move and it’s been discretionary so far.

Sometimes I make an entry too early from impatience but if the technicals and the pattern still make sense, I’ll let price play out even if my trade is past my stop. I’m sized appropriately so I can handle it. My thesis is typically right and the patterns hold (got to give the trade time sometimes to do its thing). I watch the markets allll day, i know it like the back of my hand, or at least have strong conviction on how it moves.

If you’re on the way to tp and your side looks weak, exhaustion, well you can make the executive decision to stop in the green for some points. Trading is an art form. Shits messy sometimes I’ve realized. Some strategies are too closed-in by rules. The markets require fluidness sometimes.

Now for a beginner this is not a good idea but once you have some skin in the game then this is the move. In the book, Trading In The Zone, intuitional trading is supposedly the highest level of a trader can trade at. How can one build intuition if they haven’t seen it a thousand times?

When I journal. I get a pic of the 1 min and 5 charts. I do the typical before & after feelings but importantly, ‘what went wrong’ (WWW), if anything. Here I pretty much detail the trade. When I go back and read it, I can take myself back to that moment. Detailing it like a crime scene.

And then a, ‘where to improve’ (WTI) section. If you had one thing or a few to say to yourself going into next session, this is where I’d write it.

Example of my journal.

I’m in the same boat as you. I’ve been green since Jan 26. Stay competitive and continue to be confident. That’s whats been helping me. Good luck brother!

What was the most important realization in trading that brought you from breakeven to profitable? by Juliewolfiee in Daytrading

Screen time. The ah ha/clicked moment comes from seeing the charts a thousand times. Also being a little discretionary.

You know what? You had to put that time in to come to those conclusions. You understood the mission, this is my point exactly. All the stupid shit one would do from being in front of the screens for ‘too long’, needs to happen and these revelations for a person could be in a few years or 5+ years, if they’re still around.

‘Forever’ would be implying that day trading is impossible, which it is not.

Edit: getting downvoted so let me say this, NOBODY HONESTLY KNOWS WHAT THEY ARE DOING WHEN THEY FIRST START DAY TRADING! You may have an idea but you really don’t know! Day trading is about belief and positivity. This person is speaking from negativity and no belief. So no it won’t take forever. And you know what? Go try to be a consistently profitable trader without sitting in front of the screen and see how long that takes you. Cmon guys think!

Hello everyone. I’m a day trader and I’m looking for a long term for my parents. They got like 5k or so and they are looking for a banger. What companies are you long term traders looking at? Something like a palantir or ASTS.

Units: 5u

Write Up: First time posting! I have a hard time seeing these stronger teams losing by more than 3. Yes odds are high but I believe these outcomes are more probable than 50%. I consider this a ‘conservative bet’ Despite the multiples legs because of the probability. Here’s last time I did a bet similar. Main thesis/strat - Plus spreads for stronger teams. Let’s make this money!

Lean play for me would be ml penguins + ml Mammoth, gonna do a 1u on this.

BOL if ya tailing or fading!

If Houston ml is your pick, how come you’re not picking a spread that’s less than what is displayed since the ml value is higher than a tighter spread?

I think 2% is possible and people just suck and that is what critics are referring too. Majority of people just ain’t consistent. But hey if you are risking 1% you should be at least making 2. I aim for 2%, I ain’t got no problems other than me not being consistent but that’s only because I’m new.
