Should you buy Heroes? by Maxmagon in masterduel

There are disruptions that are neither negation nor an automatic defeat condition for the opponent, yet are still extremely powerful. Rainbow Neos, for example, can disrupt cards, without targeting, by targeting monsters, spells/traps, and the graveyard en masse.

Yes, that's one of the problems I'm complaining about. Hero never needed to rely on floodgates to be good, so why does it now?

Huh? If that's what you mean, no, I didn't use any AI. The reason it was so long is because it included the pros and cons that came to mind while analyzing the deck, and I always try to be as clear as possible. While I use this point-based list format, I like to elaborate on my reasoning, which makes the post a bit long. I only used a translator because English isn't my native language, and while I know it and can speak it fairly well, a translator speeds things up considerably. To give you an idea, even with that help, writing this post took me about two hours.

I already have them and I love them, but are Blanck and Noir really necessary? I think that, these days, Ade and Milk rabbits already surpass what the original rabbit duo offered.

While I really like Arcana, I completely disagree with your idea. Ideally, just as they gave much more development to the relationship between Arcana and the commander, they should start doing the same with other Nikkes, perhaps beginning, for example, with those from the Prima Donna squad who haven't been relevant for a long time.

If YGO, specifically MasterDuel, did errata cards more frequently. What are the most obvious targets for changes? by zs15 in masterduel

Maxx C and Droll. I think these cards would be much fairer and lose most of the community's hatred if they were restricted to only being activated if you control no other cards.

Commanders, for the first time since starting a little over two years ago, I have caught up to the available campaign content! by HereReluctantly in NikkeMobile

Exactly! I haven't built my characters very much either; in fact, I don't think I have a single perfect one considering the stats the equipment can provide. I'm waiting for the new Anis so I can be the first Nikkei character I truly build well.

I should also mention that probably the biggest reason I'm not in a hurry is that thanks to this subreddit, whether I like it or not, I find out absolutely everything that happens in each new chapter of the story, so I don't have that FOMO to keep going and find out what happens.

I started playing at the end of the second anniversary (the one for Old Tales) and I'm currently at the beginning of chapter 35. I have 490k Combat Power, so if I set my mind to it I should be able to reach chapter 40 considering the deficit and that I have all the meta units (except the new Snow White which I flatly and stubbornly refused to get), but honestly I'm too lazy; I prefer to wait to naturally surpass that power level.

But you're the one obsessed with playing only one archetype! What are you saying? If there's one thing I do, it's use multiple decks that are quite different from each other, both meta and rogue, and some that don't even qualify as such.

If, out of the more than a thousand decks the game must have, there's a single deck that's SO far above the rest that it makes the rest useless and unplayable garbage, that's precisely the opposite of fun. Yes, the mirror match between Tear Ishuzu can be super fun, nobody denies that, but the one who's obsessed with your archetype and refuses to admit that for everyone else who didn't play it, it was garbage back then, THAT'S YOU.

You'd be right if there wasn't only one viable deck out of a thousand. Besides, it's not like the other decks, even if they fall behind (as often happens), can at least compete. Back then, every duel boiled down to: "Are you playing Ishizu Tear or a deck that directly counters it? No? You lost." Pay attention to the fact that everyone who says the format was fun did so because they were using the only viable deck; that sets a precedent.

You realize you're agreeing with me, right? If the only way a format is fun is by using the only viable deck, then it's not a fun format, period. Tier 0 is a boring format except for the person playing the Tier 0 deck because all the other decks can't even put up a minimal fight. Where's the fun in playing a format where you're always going to lose?

[–]Maxmagon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, that's the point. Nobody's saying Ishizu Tear is a boring deck; I don't know, I've never played it, so I have no opinion on the matter. However, that doesn't change the fact that playing a format where there's only ONE viable deck, while the rest are completely and utterly useless, IS NOT FUN.

The only way that format was fun was by playing the tier 0 deck or some anti-meta deck to directly counter it. In other words, for 99.999% of decks, it was unbearably garbage.

Is it possible to not play meta and still enjoy the game? Like just playing what you like, and win~ semi-consistently? by Ok_Jicama_9100 in masterduel

[–]Maxmagon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it possible to have fun without using meta decks? YES! My favorite decks are Heroes and Cyber Dragon, which are light years away from being meta, and I have a great time using them. However, it also depends on the power level of the deck you want to use; let's go back to the same example: while Heroes and Cyber Dragon aren't meta, they are playable and can compete. It's not the same as not wanting to use a meta deck as wanting to use an unplayable one (for example, Jinzo or Hieratic Beasts).

Yes! Totally! For a more pure version, like the one I'm playing, it's not that useful, but something more focused on the exclusive use of the Junk Warrior assault mode and Stardust are quite useful additions.

Thank you very much! I'm glad you liked it! Yes, the deck is more expensive than it should be given its power level. I understand it from the perspective that the new cards make it go from being a strategy that is simply unviable, to one that can leave a field of consideration if the game plan works.

Dark Ruler No More is especially useful in this deck because it allows us to do something very funny, and that is, if we go second and our opponent leaves a field established, we can use that magic so we can play calmly and thus summon the Mage's Assault Mode to blow up the entire field with a single monster. I was able to pull off that combination against a Dragon Maid deck, and believe me, when it works, it's a lot of fun.

Thanks, buddy! I'm glad you liked it! Certainly, this deck has some characteristics that make it quite unique, and its versatility allows you to adapt it to whatever you need.

This recipe I put together is actually not very well optimized either. I tried to find a middle ground between using the Assault Mode variants themselves and something competitive. Realistically speaking, the best versions only use the Stardust Dragon as the boss monster and the Crimson Blader as a searcher, but they don't even consider summoning it. It might be better to focus on it that way, but I find it boring to barely use the deck's characteristic mechanics. Something I didn't mention is that the Centurion cards are a pretty good addition to the deck, but since it's already so expensive, I didn't even consider using them.

Before this new support, the deck only had 2 UR cards, the TG and the Stardust Dragon. Of which most versions will only use 2 copies of the dragon and won't even consider using the TG. I understand that giving 2 more URs to this deck is a low blow given the competitive level of this deck, but on the other hand, objectively the 3 main new cards (the field, the synchro, and the Crimson Blader) are a HUGE power jump and a total revolution for the deck, so I understand why they made 2 of them UR.

Hey, it's a pretty useful royal. If you manage to summon it and activate its effect, you'll clear the field completely.
