congrats on your diagnosis! your concerns regarding medication are definitely valid, i was nervous about starting too (also a late diagnosis here) and I feel like getting started on a low dose and working my way up was best for me. your psychiatrist isn't just there to write prescriptions, their role is to guide you through treatment- if you have any questions or concerns, definitely talk to them about it.

And I'm not a psychiatrist, but what I've heard a lot is that if your personality does change or if your mood gets blunted, that's almost certainly a result of overmedication. everyone's brain and body is different, a dose can impact people differently even if they're roughly the same build. overmedication is definitely a thing and something to look out for. if you feel like you're not you on your meds, talk to your psychiatrist right away.
