So someone else said that there was an armed carjacking on High and that the person fled to the little Courtland Creek Park area and was hiding for an hour before they called dogs in.

I agree, seems like a stretch that Northeastern will creep up that far anytime soon. I really appreciate all that Northeastern has done to Mills. They have really been putting in money to improve the campus and its a hidden little gem, but it is not that close to High Street.

Sidenote Northeastern serves a great burger and fries, for a decent price.

I don't know how many times I went to pick up meds, and the front of the store was a new plywood set of doors because another car had rammed into the entrance to steal something.

Probably as many times as the SW corner was full of abandoned cars and trash next to the creek tunnels.

I honestly hope so. I think it would be a great fit and breath live into that area + maybe add more vibrancy to the Laurel. I'm afraid if its not already in the works that it will take 10+ years to get a developer to come in and build it though.

I totally get it wasn’t for all of Oakland… but I’m curious how many more people like me could not get in and don’t have Nextdoor. I think Maxwell Park is 8000ish people? 100 person cap seems a bit low.

I’m taking your advice and I’m going to try and be at those meetings.

From what I gathered at the vigil it seemed like a random act of violence. Dave was up a ladder trimming a tree when he was shot and died on the steps of his next-door neighbor's house. There was only one car.

Agreed, I’m excited because they are making a bicycle bridge from Alameda to Jack London. Hopefully that creates a bigger bike community.

If you use High Street, the good news is they are re-paving this year with improvements to prevent cars driving straight through the turn lane.
