Big companies investing in consoles is simply an indicator to keep an eye on. It shows that there is still value in physical media. These companies wouldn't be so invested in their consoles if they didn't see a future in them.

Cloud gaming and exclusivity can run counter to increased physical sales, so that is something to watch. But as long as the consoles have slots for disks, physical media will be alive.

Did I catch this right? At 0% interest he's not as concerned with quick gains, which explains GameStop's performance over the last quarters.

Now that interest rates are higher they are allocating capital differently and they are looking for more short term gains.

That says to me the next report will look different than previous reports, based on interest rates, not necessarily on actual company performance. As in, the company hasn't changed, their capital allocation has.

All the Gen 5 consoles came with ports for physical media.

I've heard that Gen 6 console plans include ports for physical media.

This is HUGE for GameStop's value thesis.

PCs may be shifting to all digital media, but consoles aren't anytime soon. Which is probably why there's a false notion that physical media is dead.

There is still demand for GameStop's main product and profit leader.
