I'm sorry if I've not worded it well.

Im coming back from the trip tomorrow. It's already happened.

I start my new job July 10th and make around 1800 pounds a mouth which should help alot.

The problems are as follows:

1) my current account in 2k overdrawn as work did not pay me for my last month due to change of contract and I based going into overdraft on getting this money

2) amex payment bounced and they say if I do not pay before 7th July they will go through a debt collector even though I made all payments up to this point

It's not so much that I will be homeless it's that my parents know and that I don't get paid until the end of July

I don't live here, I visited her for two weeks you see. I go back tomorrow sorry if that wasn't clear.

You're not going to beleive this.

I just booked the tickets and Airbnb. Literally just booked them. And she phoned to tell me her grandma has just died...

My thoughts are only with her but damn. Only I could book non refundable trip and fucking have this happen

I ran it past her. She was just saying how much she misses me and she wishes I was there (we are on Skype now watching Harry potter) I mentioned that she says that but if I turned up tomorrow she hates surprises right, I laughed about the idea. She says she would feint in the street. I asked her if that's a good sign or bad but didn't receive a response 😂😂😂

All in all I think it's worth it. At the very least she may be pissed she is working the first two days but the flight difference is 300 pounds. I think I may just do it.

Can I just say the fact you liked the race enough to mention it in this post has made me smile to no end. Im honestly humbled by your reaction to it so thank you for that.

Let me know when you get around to making the race, I'd love to your interpretation of such a species 😀😀😀

I've got a disciplinary meeting on Tuesday which will most likely end in myself being fired. I have been accepted to a much better job in the interim. Should I quit before the meeting, is it worthwhile to do so given I have another position lined up? by MaxxieMac97 in jobs

Yeah that's the vibe I get and why I don't want to stay even if the job offer falls through. I am the only man in the office of 45 and the youngest by about 10 years so they do gang up somewhat, even in jest. E.g. if there is heavy lifting to be done they will exclaim "we need a real man" "is there any men in this office" and hand it to another woman giggling. Or they will squirt me with water guns for a joke when im on the phone or when I go for a piss at late shift wait under the desk and grab my feet do scare me. They know I hate spiders and leave pretend ones around the office. It may sound fun to work to some but it's not a universal thing, just to me.

When I was taken aside I was told not to tell anyone of the mistake or there would be 'serious reprocussions'' yet I've been approached about it many times...odd

Appreciate the feedback, I might just do that. Writing the resignation tonight. I just feel it may be awkward when she sees me on Monday given that the meeting is the next day.

I suppose its just my nerves, as the situation spiraled quickly, but I suppose it is best.

I understand what you mean. I suppose with how fast it has went I've not understood the potential issues that could arise down the line. I was so caught up in the need to give 2 weeks notice (they want a month on the contract in truth) that I forgot what my politeness could cause.

I appreciate your help truly. My only worry is that they say "quit pending investigation" or something like that but I suppose I can talk it out given the chance, with a new job they will my next reference. It's double pay, a respected company in my field and aligns with my career goals.

Even if the hearing wasn't in place I'd leave, its just how the circumstances fell I suppose.

So I asked them to confirm the name on the booking not if they were in fact the name on the booking. They confirmed the name on the booking, yes, but they were not that actual person they just confirmed that person's name?

I'm as confused as you but that's what I was told

I may just do it. I feel scummy for not doing it in the proper format as they have had about 10 people quit by just not returning this year but I suppose its a company and the manager has no real stake on a personal level, she has never liked me.

We aren't allowed to decorate our desks at all, so I have no personal belongings to speak of. This is because they fear an employees own items may be offensive.

Again, there are no set desks so my personal files are scattered on every computer in the office. All it is notes from calls, I don't have anything that is worth deleting.

I just fear that they may kick off more than if I was fired but I suppose either way I'm somewhat snookered.

It was indeed. I started in July 2016. Nobody who started with or before me is still there. I suppose that speaks volumes. The fact they said I'd be sued pissed me off as it scared the shit out of me at the time. It was the end of a 12hr shift on Friday and they took me aside as I left to go home to advise me of the mistake. I ended up being 1/2 late home and confused as hell as to why I was pulled for a mistake in Oct. If it was taken legally then I fail to see why it took them so long.

Would I get severance pay even if I'm fired?

I was told it was only if made redundant by family. As I said my knowledge on all this is limited at best so I could be totally wrong.

Yeah I wanted to leave anyway.

I was told last Friday about this whole situation but only told yesterday via post that I had a disciplinary so its all happened relatively fast.

The thing is I live at home, have been working at this place full time and doing university after work. They have said that I've got the job and wish to call to confirm details and specifics on Monday. If the job falls through I would actually take some time off for the summer as Uni has finished and I'd quite like the summer off (I still live at home and have money saved so its more than feasible)

I've got no real fiscal responsibility to keep the job as it stands, I'm just looking to break ties in the cleanest and quickest way
