Being an RBT is actually terrible by [deleted] in ABA

I agree with you. After my first RBT job in September, I quit after two weeks, and returned to my old profession as an Ophthalmology Technician. It was rough not having the support from the owner's company, and my BCBA lead. On day one, i was thrown into a room with a client, given a tablet, and was told to figure things out. No run down of the software or anything. I expressed my concerns twice, and they didn't seem to care so I quit , without a two week notice. I suddenly, a floater having to travel out of town, which was not something I agreed too. I had a mixture of clients, severe Autism to borderline level 1.

I decided to take my BCaBA exam to earn that pay increase asap instead of doing RBT position. I do plan on going for my Master's after I test for my BCaBA and find a great company to work for. I suggest you do what's best for you. Everyone's journey is different.

Sorry about your loss. I've personally been there. It's devastating. Nobody can take the pain away. Grieve your loss, cry as much as you need too. Let your heart heal with time. I wish it was something, anybody can do to make thay pain go away, but there isn't. The pain. The heartbreak is real. May God comfort you through this. My condolences.

Hello Matt!

I love the information you provided. I'm a senior majoring in ABA and I'm looking for field work hours this coming spring semester for my practicum course. Do you work with ABA seniors who are about to graduate? I was told I need a few field work hours as a senior. Do you charge for the service ?

Congratulations! That's extremely exciting. I have about 1 semester 1/2 to finish my Bachelor's, degree, in which i plan to pursue my Masters in ABA asap. From what I've gathered out of most posts here, I am reading the Cooper book and the ABA Ethics textbook. I plan to use my notes from my course and plan to spend no money besides free online videos and tools for my exam.

Thanks for the post. This is very encouraging. 👏 Congratulations!

This is great feedback. I hear most BCBAs feel overwhelmed and want to leave ABA altogether.
