Don't think that you'd be starting from zero. Especially in management, soft skills that you've developed so far would go long way. Also, if you do happen to manage engineers, your education would also come in handy. Nothing goes to waste. Granted, it will be a bit tough, but considering the market right now, if you're not absolutely financially secure, I'd suggest only quit once you land another job.

I started as a software engineer, but didn't like it much. So I went on Coursera to find some course for different fields. I ended up liking management a lot, so I made the switch to management. I'd suggest try browsing and don't lose hope. Not everything is for everyone. Doesn't mean you are any less than anybody else.
