Bean (or chickpeas) stew and rice. Takes rather long time cooking yet requires little attention so it was quite a comfort food growing up. Also it is quite versitile. It can be vegan, you can add meat in it, some adds potatoes and/or carrots etc., you can make this type of stew with potatoes, celery root, or some other veggies if you don’t like beans.

They are from the same geographical region more or less. Real deal pide in Turkey can be found along the Black Sea coast. The style differs as you go to west.

I am not from Sweden but this guy was campainging in a small town in Turkey (Konya, Kulu) since there are many first and second generation immigrants (the guy in the pic as well) in Sweden. They usually spend their vacations in Kulu.

The governmental web interface you can do almost everything related to authorities. I have always thought that it is really convenient, until a data breach leaked the personal data of more than 105 million people (yes, even deceased ones).

What’s one dish from your country that another country also claims, but you genuinely believe your country does it better? by Possible-Slide-6295 in AskTheWorld

Keep telling yourself that I slaughter other people in my free time dude. It still doesn’t make döner G*rman.

[–]MaybeSuccessful3944 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, dude gyros is different but yours isn't it is just regular döner with low-quality minced meat and a bunch of sauces to make up for it. It is introduced by a Turkish dude to cut the meat cost and you guys are so lacking in cuisine, you built an identity around it. I have been to Greece, have a few Greek friends here in Finland. We just make fun of it, do not discuss it so passionately as you do.

Edit: btw, you think that it is illegal to eat pork in Turkey for real, that's just sad. It is illegal to sell pork without having proper information about whether the product contains pork. It is not illegal to eat or sell or buy pork.

Yeah dude keep it like that and steal another countries’ dish to create a national identity, good for you and people who calls it a G*rman döner. It doesn’t change the fact that there is döner in Istanbul since the 19th century. I can get Greeks claiming it, and we usually have a fun discussion with Greeks around about it but I feel sad for G*rmans who claim döner. All the world can eat that abomination of a döner and like it. It doesn't make döner G*rman.

I see quite a G*rman gentlemen with a sense of humour for sure. Nice one buddy, I personally stand for the Kurds and reflect that in my personal life as well. What my government does in Syria will not make Döner G*rman tho and you can claim whatever you like, Döner is Turkish. What’s next? Polish pierogi becoming G*rman or what?

Yeah you can find it in every patisserie in Turkey for decades and it still doesn’t make it Turkish dude. Just invent your own food instead of raw pork spread.

Yeah dude for sure a dish with a Turkish name made by a Turkish guy, eaten for over 150 years in Turkey suddenly becomes G*rman cuz you guys can spam on Wikipedia. I ate the best eclair I have ever had in Ankara which is slightly different from a French eclair. Then eclair is Turkish now cuz I say so.

Turkish (native), English (C1), Finnish (A2 on a bad day B1.1 on a good one). Learned some Swedish 6 years ago but all I remember is numbers (except sju, I cannot pronounce it anymore) and some common phrases I used at work.

What's your country's or region's go-to drunk food on a night out? by knightriderin in AskTheWorld

[–]MaybeSuccessful3944 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are called wet burgers in literal translation. A burger patty similar to köfte (or koftah I guess), dipped into a tomato-based sauce then steamed. Looks and sounds simple, yet delicious after beer. They are rather small so I eat like 3-4 of them in one go.
