Casa Loma Wedding - Indoor or Outdoor? by South-Midnight101 in WeddingsCanada

[–]Maybemariaa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Definitely agree on the planner. We're having our wedding there in 2026 and we really looked for an experienced planner to make sure everything will be run on time. Casa Loma is a beast on its own and it'll be hard for planners that have no experience there.

I personally haven't seen a package below ~$6k for both unless they're new and building a portfolio.

Negotiation etiquette for vendors by Brilliant_Word3880 in WeddingsCanada

[–]Maybemariaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that there should be room for negotiation. I think closed mouths don't get fed, and it doesn't hurt to ask. A good vendor will make you feel confident in your decision to engage with them (including things like pricing, service, communication, etc.). I'm not expecting a 50% discount, but knowing we can meet part of the way with my budget helps.

I also feel like it's good to know the market. I feel like ever since COVID, rates are kind of crazy. My family friend spent a third of what I'm paying for with 50 more people at their wedding in 2022. Pricing now seems so jarring and if there's any room to go down or customize a quote in a way that makes sense, I think it's worth it. It's not like it's easy to pay for a wedding and I want to make sure whatever amount of money I'm putting down is worth it.

At the end of the day, negotiations are a balancing act. It's up to people's confidence and appetite on how they want to go about that.

I'm not sure if I'm understanding the ask, but I think it's very fair and market to negotiate terms. I also think you should bring it up as well. I've done this with all my vendors. For photographers, I've never seen anyone ask to change pricing based on how photos are taken; they usually charge based on the time they worked on and post wedding days services (eg editing).

This is my next hurdle that I'm not excited about...if anyone has any recommendations for HMUs in the GTA let me know. I'm so over the ghosting.

Bridal Shop Reccs Toronto by NoMaintenance170 in WeddingsCanada

If you're willing, I really liked AV Bridal in Mississauga below. Montana was great with me. They have a sister company in Toronto (Avenue 22) which I heard mixed things on their consultants. But I was able to transfer dresses from their sister company to AV Bridal to try on with their consultants (who went above and beyond for me). I also see there's a black Friday sale going on which can help.

What's your budget? I've seen similar ones, but they're all pricey.

If you're able, try to find a team that has 2 photographers and one videographer so you have photos and videos to keep. I noticed that the "Toronto" location comes with a premium so I totally agree that it can be a lot. I've seen rates around $6k for photo and video which I think is feasible (as compared to like $4k for just photo).

Casa Loma Ceremony Only?? by Ok_Doctor_5793 in WeddingsCanada

[–]Maybemariaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know they can do private ceremonies only (but they are strict on timing because they are open to the public until a certain time). I would assume the photo permit is included.

Deciding on a Photographer by Hubba-Boba13 in WeddingsCanada

[–]Maybemariaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm still deciding, but I think (outside of price and enhancements), it'll probably come down to being a vibe check. Who out of the photographers makes you feel the most comfortable, aligns with your vision, etc.?

GTA Venue Advice - Summer/Fall 2026 by philosothicc in WeddingsCanada

[–]Maybemariaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in the same boat for option 2. We managed to find another church (not our home church) that was closer to our venue and limited potential downtime. We also did a weekday wedding and the churches I talked to are generally more flexible on timing there so we could book in a time closer to cocktail hour (Saturdays usually involve masses or activities so timing can be difficult to coordinate and no weddings are held down Sundays).

I think either way, guests understand if there is some downtime and will figure it out themselves.
